A great performance by Washakie and super performance by Ima Spicey Lombo. They went 1:56.3 for 2500 around Gloucester Park (equally track record) so they were flying.

My question? Did some of the drivers miscount the laps? With a lap to go horses were fanning out and some under the whip. While watching the race I could have sworn that the caller had only just advised the first quarter, turns out I was right and there was a lot of tired horses at the finish!!

Washakie is a gun horse who doesn't get the recognition he deserves considering he holds the record for the second fastest mile and is a grand circuit winner (and will win one or both of the grand circuit races coming up in the next two weeks.

Yes some of the drivers stuffed up big time..

If you have a look at the margins then this tells the story of the tired horses..

ima spicey lombo finished 2.2m to washakie..

3rd placed Our Mercurio finised 16m.. and then the fourth horse Glencadam finished 49 metres behind the winner.. then 10th and last Can Return Fire finished a whopping 131m behind..

Also, the AHR website results indicate that some of the drivers were queried after the race so it will be very interesting to see what comes out in the stewards report..

At the bend into the front straight BEFORE the bell, Hall was 3 back on the pegs and blatantly pushed out to be 3 wide whip cracking goin flat to the winning post, THEN, he pops his whip away realizing everyone is still going...
Total stuff up by him and I would be extremely cut if I owned the horse he pushed 4 wide for nothin!
He must get time...

Definitely gun run by Ima Spicey Lombo, that’s the way they race in the west (hard). Has The Answers has been a tired horse for some months now its a shame he didn’t get some time of for a real shot at the big races

It would be good to see him return to his best, he ran 2nd in a Len Smith to Smoken Up one year. In saying that it is a big ask and he is now racing for a different trainer...

Stewards report isn't up yet but Adam Hamilton just said that Hall got 6 weeks. I wonder if he was the only one to get time?

Now I'm hanging out for the stewards report to appear....

6 weeks....awesome.
He is one arrogant little man who thinks he owns the track and other drivers, horses need to get out of his way.
You would never see Lang, Alford, MC Carthy, any Fitzpatrick or Bennett etc do what this guy does as blatantly as he does.
A few months ago he was charged with whipping another driver after crossing the line for gods sake, he needs a serious mentor to get him to pull his head in.
He is relatively a young guy with a long driving future in front of him and if behavior like this continues to be more frequent, he has problems going forward.

SUSPENDED GARY HALL TO MISS RICH CUP EVENTS
Star reinsman Gary Hall jun. has been suspended for six weeks and will be unable to drive champion pacer Im The Mightyquinn in the $400,000 SEW Eurodrive WA Pacing Cup on Friday week and in the $500,000 A. G. Hunter Cup at Melton next month.
The 28-year-old Hall pleaded guilty to carelessness in that he mistook the laps in the TABform Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
He was driving 8/1 chance Albert Jaccka and he mistook the laps when he eased the gelding off the pegs with 1100m to travel and dashed him forward approaching the home bend when racing for the bell in the 2506m event. He urged Albert Jaccka forward under the whip down the straight before realising that there was still another lap to travel.
Albert Jaccka finished sixth in the race won by Washakie. Hall explained to the stewards that he saw most of the opposition was under pressure after a hectic tempo down the back straight and that his instincts told him that the field was approaching the finish and that it was time to get going with Albert Jaccka.
Hall requested a stay of proceedings and was granted a stay to enable him to drive Im Themightyquinn in the $250,000 Fremantle Cup next Friday night. The maximum stay the stewards can grant a reinsman is nine days.

Still no mention if any other drivers got suspended? Stipes report should be out tomorrow I assume.

Ima Spicey Lombo is no doubt the best mare in Australia. After soughting out her foot problems she will be one of WA's best of all sex's. Lombo Pocket Watch will come back a better horse and will be strong in WA.

Gary Hall JNR is on top of the world in Perth. He's a gun driver and probably needs a bit of a holiday for a rest. Seems to gone of the rails up bit since Shayne Cramp left the stable ???

Has the answers is a 2nd tier horse in WA. Once all the decent horses come back he is clearly a 5th place a best runner. Take him to the eastern states and he would be a Bankstown performer.

I reackon someone should try and get Franco Torro from NSW over to perth. Look how good Cromac Johnny goes over here. They both race the same

thats why they need a bigger track and the drivers wouldn't need so many fingers to count the laps

With how much prizemoney they go for, IMHO some of that should be redirected into improving facilities and AT LEAST a 1000m track. While I have no problems with the Inters being in WA, I think it is such a shame for it to be on a tight little half mile track, especially when WA has better tracks available.

On the other hand, I salute the WAers for reverting back to the old 3 heats and final system. Awesome.

It's a shocker of a mistake but honestly...it's an honest mistake and Jnr gets 6 WEEKS?????????
C'mon now WA Stewards. That's ordinary. Guys who intentionally do really shitty things get less time for their indiscretions.
A little bit of penalty parity here would go a long, long way. I say NO NO NO, LET OUR JRN. GO!

incredibly harsh penalty - I agree
