Horses with a low worm burden may show no clinical signs.
More subtle clinical signs include poor performance or poor growth rate in young horses, through to weight loss, anaemia, diarrhoea, severe colic and acute death.

Wtf? Acute death??????
Is there any other kind?
Or is it in fact also possible to suffer from mild, moderate, severe and chronic forms of death?

Mild Death is when your horse performs worse than the trainer, driver and public expect it to.
Moderate Death is when you're told your horse is probably not as good as the grand circuit horse you were first told it was going to be.
Severe and Chronic Death is when you have a top class horse and your odds on favourite for the Inter-Dominion and you get knocked over on the first corner.
Acute Death is what you feel like the morning after 6 bottles of red and two packs of cigarettes...................

Acute Death is when the Trainer says "Pile on boys, this can't be beaten"...and with clenched fists full of tickets you watch your horse go across the line under double wraps & buried in traffic...it having previously seen daylight when the arms folded back some 1609m prior.
