The 1960 Inter Dominion cup. It was one of Caduceus' great races, and there is a lot that has been printed about the race.
After five previous attempts, with Jack Litten finally driving him, Caduceus finally won the race over coming a 36 yard handicap, a protest and before a record crowd of 50346.
I can recall listening to the race via shortwave radio, what a thrill. So what has become of the trophy? Well I can say it has spent the better part of 50 years in security and a number of years ago I had it handed down to me. Some day soon I shall place it for sale here and in Aussie, then I'll be able to gauge just how favored an item such as this is.
