Smiling Shard's season hangs in the balance

While there looks to be plenty of competition for supremacy in this Saturday's (June 4) Harness Jewels 4YO Emerald there can be no doubt as to who is the true harness racing star of the field. Millionaire pacer Smiling Shard finished fourth behind the three best pacers in Australasia in the Inter-Dominion Final held at Alexandra Park in March, but after a brave second to Gomeo Romeo in the Woodlands Taylor Mile, the wee guy's legs finally ran out of puff, finishing a disappointing second-last in the New Zealand Messenger.
