Hi all, I am new here. I've come here to wonder if anyone knows of a sire by the name "Khans Thunder"? That is my boy's sire. Just wondering if anyone would have pictures of him? I cannot find anything online! I would love to know more about him. I only know what harness.org.au has given me when I click on my boy's sire. I also believe Khans Thunder's sire is Genghis Khan, who was also successful.

I would love if anyone can give me some info/pictures ect. He'd be quite aged or deceased, by I am very intrigued about my boy's sire, and his sire. Thank you.

You will enjoy poking around on ClassicFamilies Brodie
Here is the link to Khan's pedigree page

http://classicfamilies.net/horsedetails.aspx?HorseID=10009823

Click on the coloured tabs along the top of the pedigree for more info
(no offspring or descendants come up for him as ClassicFamilies only lists classic winning horses on its db)
Be sure to click on his dam and sire to bring up there pedigrees but more so to use the tabs to bring up lots of interesting info for them

You will notice that Khans belongs to the family N14 so in the Blue Menu bar above the tabs click on Family Winners and enter N14 in the box that comes up
You now have a list of every classic winning or producing horse his dam line has produced
These columns can be sorted however you like by clicking on the heading at the top of the column
I like to click on Time/$/Group
This now sorts the long family list in a way that has the real stars at the top

By having Classic Families open twice on your computer you could have one page with
Khans 'Tail Lines' tab open:
http://classicfamilies.net/CF/Tails.aspx?HorseID=10009823

and with the other page on Family Winners:
http://classicfamilies.net/cf/FamilyWinners.aspx?FamilyNumber=n14&SE=qTimeGroup&AD=ASC
You can click on any high achievers in the family that you like to bring up their pedigree then click on their 'Tail Line' tab and you can compare it to Khans 'Tail Line' you have open to see where the 2 champs have a common ancestor

Let's say Baltic Eagle takes my fancy and on the family winners list I click on him to bring up his pedigree and then his Tail Line
http://classicfamilies.net/CF/Tails.aspx?HorseID=10022642

I can see that he and Khan intersect back at Local Gold
So that you do not have dozens of pages open just use the back arrow until you get back to the family winners and then choose another to compare to Khans

I find it a lot of fun - I hope you find it useful (and that these directions are not to complicated)

Thank you! Quite interesting stuff. I was hoping there could be pictures of Khans Thunder and Genghis Khan? Since I have bought race pictures of my boy winning Globe Derby's, and kinda wanted some of his sire. Where could I start? I have been looking everywhere

Genghis Khan's dam was Robin Dundee, Shouldn't be to hard to find a photo of her, Genghis Khan was by Meadow Skipper and you will have no problems finding his photo.

N14 is Khans Thunder's maternal family but Justbilly's is N15, Plenty of nice performers through his maternal family.

Striking Thunder was the horse by Khans Thunder that won 42,000 Brodie, your bloke was the 2nd highest stakes earner.

On the racing side of things JustBilly, did you know Brian Gath, from Victoria, travelled over to America to drive Genghis Khan in the world's richest harness race? I think it was late 1970's.

One of the owners has a big horse property near here. I don't know them personally or if Khans Thunder retired there. I send you a private message with their details in case you want to contact them. Tipping they'd have plenty of pictures of him!

Hi again Brodie, are you using Billy for riding?
His dam Barwick (a NZ bred mare) could not have been easy to breed from
From 9 seasons in the breeding barn she only produced 3 foals - you probably have seen that yourself on the HRA site by clicking on Billy's dam

You have to go to the NZ site to research his earlier dams
Here is the link to his second dam Hestitant

http://harness.hrnz.co.nz/gas/wa/r/infohorsewahr/wsd01x?Arg=hrnzg-Ptype&Arg=HorseSearch&Arg=hrnzg-DoSearch&Arg=TRUE&Arg=hrnzg-HorseName&Arg=Hesitant

Click on 'Progeny' under her name to see them listed
Just click on Hesitant's dam name to go back further and then hers etc to go back as far as you like

His 3rd dam, Regal Belmer is the closest direct line relative to make it on ClassicFamilies

http://classicfamilies.net/HorseDetails.aspx?HorseID=10016525

But if you go right back to his 6th dam Purple Patch and click on her Descendants

http://classicfamilies.net/CF/Descendants.aspx?HorseID=10016035

and click on all those + boxes you will see all the stars in Billy's maternal family tree

He belongs to this maternal family N15 (not Khans Thunders)

http://classicfamilies.net/cf/FamilyWinners.aspx?FamilyNumber=n15&SE=qTimeGroup&AD=ASC

There are some nice horses that he is a distant relative of

Champion trotter Knight Pistol shares Billy's 6th dam Purple Patch

Smudge Bromac who has won a couple of Country Cups this season and is still racing very well is a reasonably close relative as he shares Billy's 3rd dam Royal Belmer (as his 4th dam)

Genghis Khan was the Winner in 1982, The race was only run for a few years before it was discontinued.

I don't think Khans and Billy were quite poster boys but you would think that on top of winning pics there would have to be pics from when Khans was being promoted as a sire.

So Brodie, what is your story with Justbilly?

True, I am after pictures, so anything is great. You're right, You'd also think there would be pictures of them promoting Khans Thunder as a sire too.

Billy is my trail horse, not planning on doing much with him, I've competed all my life, but had a two year break after I became uninterested. Back with it now.

Hi Brodie

My Grandad is one of the owners of Khans Thunder. Khany is indeed alive and well at the grand old age of 25, living in Victoria.
