I see that New Zealand wonder horse Fly Like an Eagle is back on Aussie soil. Did we ever get to the bottom of his APG final performance. How do people think he will go in the Vicbred series? It doesn't seem to be an overly strong crop of Vic 2yo's. Outside of Mr Nickel, Soho Valencia and the Eagle, who are the threats? The Eagle hasn't raced beyond the mile distance. Will he handle the 2200m?

He over raced in the APG final and was poorly driven. Some say he had a virus but that is just propaganda....

He is clearly the best 2yo in the Southern Hemisphere and should prove that in the Vicbred and Breeders Crown. Mr Nickel is always improving and Soho is honest. Soho has been up for a long time....

2200 won't be a problem, in fact he will probably be better suited IMO.

The best Vic 2yo by a mile was Restrepo, but unfortunately he got injured and will miss the rest of the 2yo season i believe.

I certainly believe FLAE to be top of the tree. If he replicates his NZ form he will be almost impossible to hold out. At least over 2200m, barriers are far less important.

Lets hope Aussies get to see the real Eagle!:):)

Yes, I agree with mo , Restrepo was extremely impressive in his three wins to date. I was not aware of his injury. Is it a major one?

The Eagle's win on NZ Jewels day was sensational.

Its hard not to see the same horses from the APG figuring in the finish come Vicbred final time. Mr Nickel, Soho Valencia and Desirable Guy. This time FLAE will be over the top of them though.

Curious, Zipper. Is there a story behind your "one thong" avatar?

Shame on you for remembering getting home :p

I'd expect improvement from Desirable Guy after being first up and will probably be driven with a sit in future. I know it's hard to tell the $1.30 backers; but don't jump off him just yet!

Nice to have someone on the ball. Stewards report says swab samples taken from the winner, Desirable Guy. If a test was to come back positive I'd hope internal records are a whole lot more accurate.

What a shame Fly Like An Eagle will miss the upcomming Breeders crown due to having bone chips removed from a knee on Thursday. He will be off for about 12wks. He will be crowned 2yr old of the year at the Ice Bloodstock awards in Christchurch tonight.

At least we know why he was so disappointing last start

Disappointing news , but it certainly now explains his poor last run. It was too bad to be true. Trust that he comes back better than ever. We really need exciting youngsters like him.
