With the amount of harness meetings on each and every week I have been worried about the race horse numbers and the amount of races that are held. Once again I notice that nominations have been left open for Westport and Ashburton. Who knows how...
What is everyones thoughts on the handicapping system regarding Cheap Tuesday meetings? I am a fan of holding them provided the 'right' horses turn up. What I find hard is the fact that a horse gets a full penalty for winning them? I know club's...
Having been in Wellington for a few days I attended a informal function that included The Minister of Racing. He seemed very approachable and so we started up a conversation on Harness Racing. Within 30 seconds alarm bells started ringing. The...
Today at Oamaru in race 2 I see Phil Williamson and his 3 boys, Nathan, Matt and Bradley drive in the same race. Great acheivement for them all.
Race 1 at Ashburton............Dexter won on his first drive back. He simply carries on as if he has never been away. :D
Forbury Park again have not enough nominations for their meeting this week. Along with a couple of meetings in Canterbury and Southland recently it seems this may continue for a while. There can be many and varied reasons why the meetings are not...
With Cup week done and dusted there seems to be a passing of the torch from our well established horses: Monkey King, Power Of Tara, Springfield Richard, Sovereignty etc onto the new and just as exciting horses like, Terror To Love, Franco Emirate,...
I thought it was time to post about the good work Jess Davidson does on trackside. I know our standard of Harness presenters has not been flash over the past year or so but this girl has done a great job. You can see her passion for the game and...
Nice to have the catalogue out. It's my favourite reading over the Christmas break!!;)
Sad to hear the passing of one the stalwarts of harness racing in Doug Mangos. I vividly remember having a punt on Doug's horses when they graced a field. Doug trained and drove some nice horses over the years. He will be missed.
Neat race coming up on Saturday. The added bonus is last years winner De Lovely drawing 1. For mine, it will be Bettor Cover Lover to win well.
Nice win first up for the Christian Cullen 2 year old. It's been awhile since I have seen a 2 year old jog a mile like that. Looks a serious race horse.
Well done Zac for the past season and good stuff on the way you celebrated - shame they had to fine you $500 -, One of the few times harness racing gets on mainline TV news in a postive manner:cool: You can't beat enthusiastic youth!! ...

A decision has been made. Let's leave our egos in the cupboard - especially at this the sadest of times.. It seems if you are from Canterbury people want the Interdoms in Christchhurch - if you are from Auckland, they want it in the north. The...
The Auckland and NZ metrotpolitan Trotting Clubs have got into bed together and will combine as one to conduct the 2011 Interdominion Championships. At last the egos have been cast aside and now we can do what's right for the less fortunate in...
A scouring attack has cost the once brilliant Auckland cup champion Auckland reactor from competing in this year's Inter Dominion Championships starting in Christchurch this Friday (March 18). It's sad, but it's true. Read more here. ...
I remember I was just a teenager in Oamaru when Luxury Liner was doing the business up north for Roy/Barry Purdon and Tony Herlihy. It saddened me heaps when I heard of his passing this month - so I decided to write the following tribute to the...
