deregististration
can someone enlighten me? on how a mare can be deregistered from breeding and racing in the standardbred sphere.what kind of a misdeameaner would incur such a harsh penalty?the mare in question is'spirit of beth' who happens to be Lazarus's granddam.

Deregistration isn't a penalty. In the case of a broodmare the owners simply decide she's not going to be bred again, by anyone.

Colin, this usually occurs when a mare or gelding is given away to be used as a riding hack , a companion horse or pet. The original owner wants to be sure the horse is not put back into training or bred with again.
With a mare the owner may know that she is incapable of getting into foal and doesn't want a new owner to resell the horse without disclosing this.
