Big news Kev

It is biggish news Kyle but you know what a spoilt brat I am - I want full HD on my large screen TV (like Thoroughbred Central - with the interviews etc too)
ps I have followed your link and there is 6 min until I see R4 from Geelong - I am expecting it to be like watching when logged onto Sky through your TAB account
One plus - I won't need foxtel Sky2 sub for when they shaft us
Well that was pretty dam good. It looked pretty good too on full screen on my desktop (60cm diagonal screen). No quick cut off for a bloody dogs race - plenty of time for Dan to give all the details and footage of the horses returning
It would be good to have it available in full HD (1080) for those who are happy to wear the bigger download (I know Mediatec can do full HD as I have seen it broadcast on track on the replay TV)
I can understand why the screen then reverts to a countdown to the next race (as many people do not want to use up all their data) but vision of the horses pre race in the parade ring would be great and one day soon this may be our own trots channel with interviews and the works. :D
Now I hope to see ads promoting the exclusive trots vision so that trots fanatics know they do not have to wear the barrage called Sky1

including
"Media will announce new exciting programming initiatives to be viewed between live race coverage."
“Phase two of the project will see Trots Vision able to deliver other content via the streaming service, including a range of editorial programs, allowing us to tell the great harness stories around our people, ownership, breeding, HRV HERO, racing, wagering and of course our champion horses.”

Excellent !
Saw one race of the coverage tonight and looked great. It will be good to tune into when out and about and you want to catch a race.
There will be an expanded coverage in future pre and post races and meetings I am sure, this is the way of the future!
Is this just for VIC? It'd be great to have one system for all of Australia - there's too much fragmentation
Looks like a good idea with a lot of potential .
This is a great step forward I reckon and well done to HRV. Getting the rights the rights to the vision a huge win.
VIC now has its own spot to showcase the sport without having to worry about dogs and gallops. Told that breaks between races will be used in time and even breaks between meetings. Interviews, stories and live vision all in one place and all 100% VIC trots. Watched on phone and PC for a bit last night and looked OK. Have to order one of them 'smart' TV's!!
Sky's the limit!! Rather than SKY being limiting..
Great work HRV!!
Hi everyone,
Really pleased that you're all enjoying Trots Vision (TV). It was particularly pleasing to see the last races at Mildura that overlapped with the first races at Melton last night. At one stage the TV transitioned from the end of a Rob Auber trackside interview straight to Craig Rail introducing horses on the track behind the mobile for the next at Mildura. We wanted to get this initial Stage 1 of TV up and going and the guys have done a great job in a very short period of time. It will take more time and work to develop Stage 2 which we aim to build in some content between races that Trots lovers will really appreciate. I'm personally enjoying the post race discussion from the race callers after horses have crossed the finish line. It means we are talking about the Trots participants and horses to anyone with an internet connection, in a way that we haven't been able to for years. We'd be happy to hear your suggestions for Stage 2.
Cheers, David
Well done David, I was wondering whether starting the broadcast from when the horses first come on the track for their warm up would be relatively inexpensive to produce and yet of great interest to trots fans
I just had it on at the same time as Fox Sky1 for Hamilton R1 and noticed that Trots Vision was about 10 secs behind
Although it is not full HD you can choose the Setting 720 which is a better pic than you can get on Sky
I have found another great feature of these early days of Trots Vision. You can have Trots Vision playing and be doing something else and when they cross the sound comes on and you know a race is about to be run. It is especially appealing to those of us who hate the barrage called Sky1
As much as I like to have the Setting at 720p for the best possible pic, I find that sometimes on this setting the pic freezes or buffers too much. Anybody else find this?
Worse than freezing this time! Sky1 I love you again :o
Breaking up again tonight (Kilmore). I have given up on 720p resolution but even on 540p (and not going to Full screen on the computer) I cannot be sure of getting through the race :(:(:(
Please don't make me go back to Sky 1
Any tech experts or better still HRV people out there who can explain whether Trots Vision is meant for anything more than small ph or tablet screens
Just experimented during the interviews after R3. I only have the resolution on 540p but every time (did it 5 times) I chose Full screen for my computer the pic froze forcing me to exit full screen, refresh the page and select play again.
Please HRV do not commit too much to program production etc until you get the streaming right. I am finding it pretty useless of late - freezing all the time when setting is on Auto (540p) and on small screen (not full screen)
It is not a problem if I connect to my mobile broadband which seems to have a faster speed than my ADSL2 but I still cannot excuse it as I watch things on SBS on demand on full HD on full screen without a problem
All this technical talk is over my head. I'd just be happy to be able to watch the replays on my phone without them freezing every few seconds at sometime other then between midnight and 2am. Of course the problem could be at my end.
Trots Vision has been fine this week including so far tonight
If anybody 'tweeked' anything - thank you
I have done nothing different at my end but have been able to enjoy the highest setting 720p on full screen (computer) w/o any freezing
I have also noticed I can change the setting (resolution) or screen size without it freezing like it was last week
The dual video stream to do the for some extra commentary and barrier draws was not as reliable and Cody seemed to be the only one with a decent mic. Having commentary on the barrier draw instead of hearing Jason Bonnington's voice even though he was the MC and the on camera pic - was offputting but maybe I just found it that way because I am used to reading lips
Enjoying Trots Vision for the Trotters Vicbred finals tonight BUT WHY DO THEY KEEP ON CHOPPING OFF THE WINNING OWNERS INTERVIEWS just to go to the countdown to the next race screen
Haven't had any joy getting Trotsvision to work but I'm enjoying the live blog.
Told a lie, got to watch the last on Trotsvision, very nice.
Has anybody else noticed that in post race interviews, nobody can ask longer questions (takes longer) than Rob Auber
ps But he is a wealth of knowledge and does a good job
It is great to see some pre-race vision of the horses (The more the better instead of the countdown clock).
Poster Boy looked beautiful pre-race - is that how he got his name Anne?
The vision is automatically set to begin two minutes before an event and finish 10 minutes after an event at this stage. Up to those trackside to get the formalities done and dusted in that timeframe after a race I guess
And last minute punters need to be careful as the races are on about a 10 second delay
Clearly some small things to iron out. Robs commentary is broadcast on course as well, and till now time constraints haven't been an issue. In time as on course commentators, and those they are interviewing become more familar with the time limit ( if it remains) they may all become more slick in their delivery. Switching to the blog Kev allows you to read the owners comments if they've been cut off.
There is a story behind the name. A friend entered Chevy's ( Poster Boys ) foal photos in the Vic Breeders competition but they were ineligible because the format was not compatible . The winning photo graces the front cover of the Stallion Guide and if Chevy was voted the winner his photo could not be used.
We walked into the Legends Cafe at Melton one night and Harness Breeders Victoria had set up a promotion and Chevy's photos were used on the advertising billboards. The friend remarked that he was a ' Poster Boy ' and the name was registered.
He is a quality individual with presence and character and I am glad that you picked that up on Trots Vision. He is a good looker. Trots vision is a great initiative of HRV , it promotes the personal side of the sport and not just the betting. I am in it because of my love of the horse and seeing more of the horses , trainers ,drivers etc may encourage participation and re- kindle interest . It's early days yet but Trots Vision could be expanded in time.
It would be good if "Trots Vision" could be added to the TAB app for mobile phones. I know I am usually placing a bet just before the race jumps and just watch it on Sky via the app, after a few seconds of a quarter screen of the score up I always wish I had watched via Trots Vision.
Trots Vision is great but lets not neglect the replays on the results
5hrs after the first at Mildura and I am still waiting for the replay to go up
Somebody must be asleep at the wheel as I can watch the replay of R2 at Bendigo which was run an hour ago while I cannot watch R1 at Mildura which was run 7hrs ago

Why couldn't this just fill the gaps between races on Trots Vision?
That's a good idea Kev. Wonder how readable it would be on screen.
Brilliant work by Rob Auber interviewing the Alford family after Sleepee's win in the 2yo Trotting Fillies
How fantastic it is to have Trots Vision on nights like this - where we can enjoy lead in commentary and post race interviews and no worries about being shafted (Sky channel)
The service is being expanded to five minutes before and (I think) 15 minutes after each race
Watching Swan Hill Cup night and although the video starts 5 mins before the race the audio does not start until they are scoring up - even for the cup. As much as I enjoy the video - no audio seems a bit of a waste
