border control heading to queensland carnival
anyone out there that`s familiar with the shepparton track.... race 4, 3/6/15 party boy beaten shhd by beach shack...party boy called the winner by race caller, but did say that the finish at shep was tricky.i recorded the race and i have watched it over and over and i can not see how beach shack was awarded the win, but as caller said, tricky finish....now to the next race, young modern beaten by mactera lad by shhd and on watching the replay it was an identical finish to r.4 only this time the horse that looked the winner was awarded the race.have a look guy and gals and see what you think.....i`m puzzled.
They did look very similar Allan and I thought the inside horse had won both times but I did think that Mactera Lad (I cannot believe my blackbooker was $10!) had a couple of inches more margin than Party Boy did.
At the end of the replays they briefly show (be ready to hit pause) the photo finish for the Mactera win and those inches were needed, it is a pity that they do not show the photo for Beach Shack's win

Horses must not mind the cold - it would not have got over 6° at Maryborough today and yet they got within 0.8sec of the Tk Rec

Edit: Just watched it myself and it was cold and WET so a great time for a horse that was 3w for last 400
The Apparent Temp is well into the minuses at Ballarat so I hope it does not snow there tonight
yes kev, i did see the black line in race 5 and i am wondering why they displayed it in that race and not race 4 also...a dob of blue tack and a piece of black cotton on the screen using r5 as a guide only convinces me more that party boy won,it would be good to be able to view a print of the photo finish of r4.
Gday Allan. The finish line at Shepparton is actually on the bend. Its still a straight line across the track but very deceiving when watching the races both on course and on the telly. The TV camera is past the post. If you watch a replay and pause it on the line you can see the little box on the outside fence. Draw a line from there to the winning post and you can see how it can be very deceiving.
I was just looking at the results for race 10 at Melton tonight and noticed that according to Harness.org.au that the winner paid $1.80 but that the $1.05 fav ran 7th.
Nice typo as it turns out. That $1.05 fav actually started at $105.00.
Some nice races at Bendigo for Saturday night - a couple of Vicbred Super Series and plenty for you 'trotting' enthusiasts.
I see they have left the Super Mares to the last race - I hope the tactic pays off and people do not go home before the bloody awful R0 which is the 2nd last
