Peter Scarpino admits he was in the right place at the right time when New Zealand harness racing trainer, Mark Purdon, bought Mr Nickel for $40,000 at last year's APG Premium Sale in Melbourne. Soon after the bidding was completed the 49-year-old horse technician was asked by Purdon if he wanted a share in the little but big hearted colt.
