So it is now for 3yo's & 4yo's
I do worry about 2yo's being pushed too hard too early but strangely, I don't know how I feel about this (Old Fuddy Duddy syndrome?)

They always got a good spell in Sept-Oct. Now when do they get a spell? Sires July, Trials Sept, Lead up races Oct, Crown Nov, Vic Derby Jan, NSW Derby Feb. Few let ups but no spells.Quote:

Since 2year olds don't start racing until December it would have to be for 3yo and 4yo horses ! This would cause many 2y olds to start racing later in the season and deplete the amount of horses available adding to the small field problem.
