My Ultimate Byron goes around at 1.34 in R4
Leap to Fame couldn't even run a place - Albion Park form would not appear to hold up
Badlands Hanover, now 24, is still siring significant winners
On Tuesday, Shabby Chic won the $100k Delaware Breeders Fund Final for 2yo F
The connections of brilliant 2yo Mister Rea are looking after their boy and have withdrawn him from the NSW Breeders Challenge due to some minor soundness issues and we probably wont see him again for the season
The story

Two $127k legs of the International Stallion Stakes for fillies at the Red Mile on Friday both won by Always B Miki's in the same time of 1.51.2
The $93k legs of the International Stakes for colts this time won by the leading 3 sires of juveniles: Downbytheseaside, Captaintreacherous and Huntsville
The Semis of the NSW Breeders Challenge for 2yo C&G's at Menangle tomorrow night sees
both Smaltese and My Ulitmate Byron drawing 1

The progeny of Rockin Image (Rocknroll Hanover) trifectaed the $270k Indiana Sires Stakes for the colts with the time being 1.50.2
while Odds On Equuleus (Art Major) sired the winner of the fillies in 1.51.1 (Always A Virgin progeny filled the placings)
It was also sons of Rocknroll Hanover - Time To Roll and Panther Hanover that sired the 3yo colts and fillies winners (while once again Always A Virgin progeny filled 3 of the placings) and Rockin Image sired both the Aged winners
Big Jim's Prohibition Legal won the $225k Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Super Final for fillies (Bettors progeny filled the places)
while Sunshine Beach's Bob Loblaw won a very close Colts & Geldings, while also siring 3rd (Artspeak sired 2nd)
The fillies were faster than the colts

There is incredible depth in both the boys and the girls Tatlows on Saturday night
Emma Stewart will have half the field in the fillies and one third of the field in the colts
Of her 6 chances in the fillies, the market considers her 4 off the front as her best and it is interesting that 3 of them are first up
Encipher and Petillante are both resuming and have been heavily supported already and are just about equal favourites at around $2.50
Encipher only had the 2 starts at Globe Derby to win the Allwood last campaign
Her time in the final was only 1 sec off the Open Tk Rec. Admittedly the record has stood since 2016 so is due to be broken (but not by a 2yo filly at her second ever start)
Irish Black Label (barrier 5?) who won the Gold Bullion is also resuming but has drifted from $5.50 to $9.50 in early markets
Beach Villa (2) and Catch A Wave (3) should provide a fantastic battle in the colts

USA 2yo Sire Stats 2021
(I might see if I can't include/subtract top performer at some stage)
https://www.ustrotting.com/trackside...&yr=2021&age=2
A bit clumsy looking but I have added the average earnings Without Highest Earner in red
You can see that the top 2 standout then the gaps start opening up
It is different from the way we usually do it
They have average per foal
We generally use average per starter
I think I prefer per foal actually
I know it is only their 2yo's but it seems to me that there is not as much money in USA 2yo racing as I imagined
ps I don't think it is necessarily fair to leave out highest earner but even this single table shows how one horse can sometimes distort the average (probably why median is sometimes preferred to mean/average)
Seeing as though I have the info at my fingertips thanks to the above calculations and some may be interested, here are their top earners
Downbytheseaside $446k
Captaintreacherous $281k
Sweet Lou $238k
Always B Miki $352k
Odds On Equuleus $227k
Tellitlikitis $196k
Big Jim $449k
World Of Rocknroll $126k
Huntsville $170k
American Ideal $238k
Betting Line $85k
Betterthancheddar $268k
I am on a roll, here I have added the sire behind the leading 2yo pacers in the US
Interesting that Bettors Delight is not in the Top 20 by 2yo average earnings (see post 91 table)
He has the 9th highest earner in Silver Label but obviously his 116 foals average under $9,000
(He sneaks into 18th for 3yo's by average earnings)
Nor did Somebeachsomewhere make it with his last small crop of 20
He however is 2nd only to Always B Miki on the 3yo averages table
Good work Kev. These analyses are quite revealing. Downbytheeaside' especially.
It's quite amazing how stats reveal a different picture to what ads for stallions try and tell you.
There's no question though that the Direct Scooter male line from Mach Three has radically changed breeding. Also how sons of non-commercial stallions...Always A Virgin ( Always B Miki) and Yankee Cruiser ( Sweet Lou) can extend their sire-line.
A super win by Anne's Irish Black Label to win the fillies Tatlow first up
I am starting to worry about not taking the opportunity to by into her little ¾ bro (it was only my misgivings about Betting Line that stopped me)

Something to look forward to on Oct 29

If you look at the top earners in Post 94 you will see that this field contains 6 of the top 10 fillies
Here is another serious 2yo filly for you
Amore Vita had her first start in the country at Bendigo tonight and "blasted them off the park"
Despite drawing the 2nd row she worked to the death and ran the fastest mile rate of the night - even though 4 of the races were over a shorter distance

Tiger Tara's first foal goes 1.53.9 to set a track record

It is proving to be a huge weekend for Always B Miki
Her 2yo's won both the colts and fillies Breeders Crowns and his winner from last year Perfect Sting won the 3yo, making him the first back to back winner since Artiscape in 1998
After winning the Breeders Crown Niki Hill (Always B Miki) continued on her winning way, winning the fillies division of the Kindergarten Classic, making it 8 wins from 9 starts and $733k for the season
http://ustrottingnews.com/niki-hill-...classic-final/
Hammering Hank (Captaintreacherous) won the colts division collecting nearly $239k for his effort
http://ustrottingnews.com/hammering-...final-victory/
Huntsville's Early Action wins the $387k Governors Cup for C&G from the fast finishing Mad Max Hanover (Always B Miki) in 1.50
while Always B Miki's Niki Hill wins again in the $360k Three Diamonds for fillies in 1.50.4
There are 5 making their debut in R4 at Geelong tonight with their dams having 63 wins between them
The biggest watch will probably be on filly Non Parreil as she is the first foal of Arms Of An Angel, who was prematurely retired from racing as an early 5yo. Her first season of racing as a 3yo in NZ only produced 2 wins from 19 starts but then she came to Australia as a 4yo for 14 starts and a near perfect record of 10 wins and 3 thirds until her last start. She ran 3rd in both the Chariots Of Fire and the Miracle Mile. Here is a short article with all the details
http://www.harnessbred.com/harness-briefs-19th-october/
Below is the link to the form guide for the race
I know most know this but for those that don't, just click on a dam for a runner eg Arms Of An Angel for No.1 Non Parreil
and it will take you to their details where you can click on their racing performance or progeny etc before returning to do another dam

Mister Rea's unbeaten record of 6/6 came to and end at Wagga on Tuesday
I still think he is very very good but maybe he is not as super special as I thought
Probably being tough as he was first up for 10wks and it was an open age race
But his conqueror is only a 3yo filly who sat on his back and finished over him
(interesting to contrast the two drivers' whip actions too)
His preferred style has been to lead so if she can sit on his back and outsprint him, his top 2yo companions will be looking to do that next year
His previous win at Wagga he had come home in 26.8 so if he takes it a little easier earlier, not many are going to come over the top of that

A big night for the 2yo's tomorrow with the heats of the Vicbred at Shep
The Stewart stable would not be very happy with the way the fillies heats worked out
Heat 1 - 2 runners
Heat 2 - 4 runners
Heat 3 - 7 runners
Heat 4 - 0 runners
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...s/?mc=SP141221
One of Stewart's 7 runners in Heat 3 for the 2yo fillies has been scratched (Interject!)
Now the question is - can she qualify all 6 for the Semis
The market has her runners as the top 6 fancies
The runners for other stables are $31, $151, $151
The $31 pop Mykorona is drawn perfectly in 1 so it will be interesting to see how they keep her out of the top 6
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#SPC14122103
We are fast running out of days for a 2yo to get that win/bonus
There are two well bred debutantes in at Shep tomorrow night
Wendys Wish is a full sis to Santa Casa Beach
while Big Bad Ossie is a half bro to Big Bad John - US millionaire, not that the dam has continued her great American record since coming to Australia
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#SPC28122108
The Bagnalls and John Vagg would be very happy as their 2yo's grabbed their first wins in the nick of time at Hamilton today
There will probably be at least one more 2yo winner tonight in the Silver and Bronze paces at Bendigo
The fillies Bronze pace consists of all maidens bar one
http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...s/?mc=HM301221
I am bumping this as the last time Fiamma raced was on New Years Eve in the 2yo Final as 3rd favourite behind Amore Vita and Encipher but broke down when looking a threat
After missing her 3yo season she resumed tonight at Bendigo - she got the worst of the draw but won untouched by 20m as a $1.10 fav should
https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fi...23#BNC14042304
Irish Black Label was another good filly from that 2yo season but obviously broke down as she has not raced for 21 months. Her last start was 2nd in a Vicbred 2yo heat to the above Fiamma
Does anybody know whether there are any hopes of getting her back or is she off to the breeding barn?
