After recently announcing Live Or Die’s retirement from active stud duties, Nevele R Stud has provided Alphastud, with an opportunity to continue Live Or Die’s success within the Australian breeding market.

Following a successful first year in the frozen semen market, Alphastud is delighted to provide breeders’ access to Live Or Die.
Live Or Die is a perennial favourite with good sire and broodmare sire achievements across individual winners, $50K, $100K and $1M earners.

He has sired 1,640 individual winners for more than $60 million in prizemoney from predominantly Australasian bred mares, 250 have each earned over $50,000.

His standouts have claimed eight Derby victories and 18 Group1 races and they include the pacing millionaires Divisive, Just An Excuse and Bondy.

Top ranked Live Or Die progeny this season include Franco Rayner ($182,825), Expressionist ($175,619) and Livura ($158,218) for a total of 290 individual winners.

In addition, Live Or Die is leaving his mark as a leading broodmare sire with over 570 winners including the triple New Zealand Cup winner Terror To Love ($2,377,125), Our Major Mark ($720,180) and Devil Dodger ($699,168) and current broodmare sire progeny include Rocknroll Magic ($458,363), Salty Robyn ($214,705), American Boy ($198,308) and Shartin ($101,728).

To be honest, not sure frozen is as good a quality as fresh or chilled

    Hi Katie,

What quality aspects are you comparing?

x - racetrack success of subsequent progeny
    x - fertility rates
    x - live foal rates
    x - microbial
    x - process
    etc.

Let me know and I'll try to provide you with specific information that uses standardbreds if I can.

We put this blog up last year - Frozen - the new factor.

There are pros and cons to both methods however some results might surprise you.

    Thanks for your interest.
