Are 12 Horse Finals fair for races like the Breeders Crown ?

    The title says it
With the barrier draw virtually destroying some horse's chances in big races on tracks other than Menangle (especially for juveniles) would it be fairer to narrow it down so that no horse in the final is drawn out of it eg 8 horse finals

It could be argued that 'such fairness' should be applied to the whole series and I wouldn't mind that
ie more and smaller heats with less horses going through to the semis which of course would have to be 2x8 with only 8 getting to the final

I am not saying any that failed to qualify tonight for the finals were unlucky - I am thinking more about the finals where winning is everything (although 2nd can sometimes be good money too)

One would probably have to review a lot of these big series finals to see if a change is justified

Maybe a 10 horse final would be better.

A few of the good horses had no excuses for missing the finals !
    Don't die wondering !
