    Ladies In Red

Ladies In Red v Tough Tilly

I know being trained by the same stable has worked out for them both so far but if I was lucky enough to own either, there would be a side of me that wondered whether we might be better off in different stables

Certainly looking forward to them resuming their duel on Saturday night

    http://www.harness.org.au/racing/fie...21#MXM18092106

I know very little about the 2 horses but after TT continued on from her 2yo season to have a crack at the NSW Oaks, followed a couple of months later for the lucrative target of the APG 3yo final, I can't help but wonder whether LIR is not going to better for the lighter program in the long run.

If it wasn't for the massive advantage of the draw in the Vicbred 2yo final, both fillies could have been on equal prizemoney right now, one having had 11 starts, the other 11 (a big IF, I know)

Ladies In Red has just completed her 2nd racing spell, September - December 31, virtually identical to last year, 10 races in 4 months racing then a long spell
How will she go in the 2022 season, no long spell (a short freshen up?) if she contests the Chariots Of Fire on Feb 19 (with the Hondo and Paleface in the 2wks leading up to it)
Does she want to take on Act Now, Bondi Lockdown, .....

ps Tough Tilly is off the scene for a while (fibrillation)
pps As well as the above boys, Ladies is yet to meet Anntonia

If Ladies in Red won the Chariots she would be the first mare since Innocent Eyes in 2006
Innocent Eyes is the 2nd dam of Bondi Lockdown

Surfing the net, as you do when you have the dreaded lurgy, I found this long clip of Ladies working the week before winning the Vicbred 3yo Final on New Years Eve last year
Interesting viewing with Clayton Tonkin driving/providing comments

Hamilton: Ladies In Red's moment in the Sun validates greatness

    https://www.thetrots.com.au/news/the...es-greatness2/

Tonkin truly shocked me halfway through when asked just how good she was he said “she’s the best we’ve trained".
    (This was pre Saturday)

HRV CEO Dayle Brown remarked after the win: “She just might be the horse harness racing has been waiting for.”

I would have to ask Dayle: "When are we going to make use of Ladies?"

There should be a Ladies In Red day ASAP for a big race she is in at Melton
Ladies wearing Red to all receive ...... (find appropriate sponsor)
A red clip art harness horse should feature in newspaper ads etc etc

Ross: This mare might be the household name we've been craving

    https://www.thetrots.com.au/news/the...-been-craving/

But what are we going to do to alert 'households', it cannot be the same old media haunts that only the rusted-on tune into
From very early in her career I suggested a Ladies In Red promo but it never happened

Nikita is no doubt thinking about it as I went back and read her previous column

    https://www.thetrots.com.au/news/the...-our-fan-base/

If we want to attract new fans to watch these incredible horses, we need to find ways to make the carnivals and racetrack experiences memorable to leave people eager to return.

On the back of Victoria developing the Aurora Australis series to reach the international trotting market, we need to keep being innovative and creative to generate hype and interest for these big races.

And the free-to-air coverage of the Hunter Cup earlier this year, which was consumed by plenty of self-confessed thoroughbred-only punters, proved that there is an appetite for people to get involved in harness racing.

Now we all need to work together to promote it so we win as a sport.
