The Crown
After scratchings 58 colts ended up going around in the heats of the Bathurst Crown last night
The boom Melbourne/Stewart colt Petracca (Captaintreacherous) was impressive winning the last but there is some very serious opposition to be faced in the final
Other winners that I liked were Happy Reg (Always B Miki) although he is still racing roughly, Better Be The Best (Shoobees Place) is very sharp, Naturally Gifted (Sweet Lou) despite an early burn, Tardelli (Huntsville) with the fastest time and Our Sunset Delight (Art Major) did it pretty easy

Nathan Jack is driving the favourite in both the Crown and the Tiara
Treasure Stride $1.55 - of the heat winners she got the 2nd best barrier (likely to be 6) but is way too short for a 2nd starter IMO
Petracca $2.00 - likely to be SR1 with the other winners drawn 2,3,4,5 so it will be tough

If you are wondering how Firefly who just won the Silver Crown at Bathurst (the gold consolation), got his name see below. No doubt also where some of this son of Downbytheseaside's ability comes from

It will no doubt all be typed into the db by tomorrow, in the meantime please excuse my messy highlighting attempt

Bathurst Finals night
I think they have their prizemoney split wrong.
The winners of the consolations pocket $25k - horses not good enough to make the final.
2nd in the actual Crown and Tiara Finals gets about $20k. Not fair in my book
The consolations should be for $30k ($15k to the winner) and the actual Crown and Tiara should be for $130k with the result that 3rd in the real finals gets more than the winner of the consolations

I agree with you on the prize money split Kev. That makes no sense
$50k group 2 Champagne classic is being run tonight at GP with7 runners. Ridiculous
