Vicbred goes Platinum- Dr. D finally gets with the program

    http://www.harness.org.au/news-artic...?news_id=18352

It's taken old mate Dr. D and his Coalition cohorts long enough to get with the program however credit where it's due. This looks pretty damned good.
Any time any State Government does something in support of Harness Racing is fine by me, especially so the perenially ignored fillies & mares. Well done fellas, well done.

If only Dr. D's NSW counterpart, the thus far as far as Harness Racing is concerned all rather lamentable George Souris, would do something of a similar nature for this State?

Hey George, mate...you & your Crew got an overwhelming MANDATE at the last election. How about getting old mate Baz O'Faz and Co. in a room and hammering out something for Harness Racing here in NSW?
About 3 weeks back the press release suggested that you'd done your bit to make sure the ATC got their 170 room hotel approved for construction trackside at Randwick.
Any chance that maybe you could show a similar level of enthusiasm for Harness Racing?

Sure is. HRV haven't had a lot to be cheered for nor for that matter to cheer about in recent times...however this is one thing of which they and the good Dr. can be justly proud.
I can't for the life of me work out why it still doesn't seem to fully compute to many here in NSW that giving better racing opportunities to fillies & mares is going to be of significant benefit to the Industry in the longer term by the obvious way of so many of those fillies & mares going on to be broodmares that will then be bred and foaled down here in NSW.
The very same crew that has for some time now bleated long & loud about increasing foaling numbers in this State have quite inexplicably and repeatedly gone mute whenever the subject of increased racing opportunities for fillies & mares is raised however the most extraordinary of all silences has been on the part of no less than HBNSW.
It is reasonable to assume that a State Breeders organisation would be noted at the vanguard of any and all such moves...but no, apparently there are obviously far more pressing matters at hand...although looking at it all from a Breeder perspective what it or they (those matters) might in fact be is anyone's guess. I sure can't put a finger on it. Perhaps Don is once again having an influence at Committee level and what to charge for a sausage on a bread roll at a Yearling Parade is a hotter trending topic of conversation? The mind boggles.

At last someone is listening! A welcome initiative for Breeders and filly/mare owners. We now only need to get rid of the red headed leader and things will really be looking up.

There is no doubt that the Vic government is proving itself to be the partner that the sport has been looking for, for years.

Nice to be positive for a change in regard to our political masters.

Political Masters? Nah, &%$# that. It's an inverse triangle Brad. They're our Political Servants. They're there to serve the people, not the other way around. Sadly, here in NSW I can't imagine old mate Georgie Boy getting his act together anytime soon and doing something similar to Dr. D & Co. I could not wait to get rid of the State Labor Government here in NSW however the tragedy was that the Hon. Kevin Patrick Greene went with them. IMO he was by far & away the best Racing Minister we've had in this State in quite some time. What a lamentable, disgraceful lineup we've suffered under over the years. Geeze, there was Richard Face, then there was that kinda skinny, nice enough but completely ineffectual bloke who got in a few years back now who used to live across the road from my Nan & Pop when we were kids & who's name escapes me. The list goes on and on. Outside of Kevin Greene, Georgie sure hasn't got a tough field nor a hard draw and to date, he's still struggling. C'mon Minister...get the freaking Lead out and get on with it. You've got a mandate. For Christ's sake use it.

Don't servants do your bidding? These guys normally tell you what they are gonna do to get elected and when they get in power, do what they want to do, which is mainly not to do anything in relation to what they said they were gonna do for you in the first place.

In regard to Victoria they are actually assisting the industry to regain lost ground, re-connecting with townships where trotting had ceased to exist and in your case Jaimie, giving the local breeding industry some long awaited hope and a leg up. They actually seem to realise the importance of local product. You guys should be sending Napthine and his crew letters of appreciation.
