    G'day James,
people I know that have used them swear by the gear for it's ability to assist horses that go a bit too straight behind.

After having a look at the gear and understanding the methodology of how it's supposed to work, it seems to me just like the spreaders that were invented ( actually spreaders were an innovation rather than an invention as they copied the "pneumatic tube" that people were using)about 35 or so years ago, that it will assist some horses but obviously not all.

I have a square gaiter that may be assisted by one of these and believe it or not went and got one today ( thanks Garrards)....I'll let you know in a week or so how it is suiting this particular horse.

    Cheers,
    Dan

have a look at the form of our trotter in New Zealand called Sol invictus - has been in amazing form since he started wearing one and it really comes down to confidence where he did strike himself a bit before then.

Thanks Neil, he certainly has turned around hasn't he, did he get on himself severely?
the horse I have just started on this gear didn't wack himself hard, but I have the impression it was holding him back, two workouts into this new gear and he feels like he is already getting over a bit more ground...hopefully I'm not kidding myself, time will tell, the horse is only 75% at the moment, in a few weeks we'll get a better indication.

I have been using talcum powder so far so good, any other solutions thankfully recieved.

    cheers,
    Dan

    Graphite is good to use
Have whoever you want on but don't ever have yourself on

Thanks for the input Greg, how does the graphite go if the chaffing gets raw?

    cheers,
