Kev, I think that it's a great thing for our best horses to be invited to the Harness Jewels. The Kiwi horses have been coming here for years and winning our big races with their very best horses. What I find strange is that the Kiwi's have heats of the Breeders Crown with only 1 or 2 horses, this seems a bit odd and certainly favours their horses. I really think that any horse, Australian, New Zealander or even a North American horse, must go through the qualifying scenario, Heat, Semi, etc, to make a final of a big race and invitations should not come into the equation.
Not having to go over and qualify like them is what the NZers are (rightfully) peed off at Rich
