    Something Special

What a run by Washakie last night in the Treuer, The speed was really on and the field were strung out like browns cows for most of the race. Full marks to John McCarthy for a great drive and being able to keep the old boy going to win his 5th Treuer in a row, a truly remarkable feat. 1.57.8 for the 2540m is pretty slick around Bankstown and the old boy certainly earned his stripes after sitting in the breeze for a fair part of the trip.

Finally just watched this one Rich - it was a super tough performance and only 0.1 outside his track record set in last year's win. I don't know which he deserves more - retirement or $2M?

Kev, Washakie has really been a grand campaigner and a real money spinner for his connections. I guess you could say that after winning 5 Treuers that he's a real track specialist, which is pretty rare amongst our horses, we see it often with the thoroughbreds but not so often with the Standardbreds. It was another performance of sheer speed and being so close to the track record really puts the performance into perspective.
