I have raised this before, the participants and administrators can't see the wood for the trees.

No incentive to buy a yearling in Australia.

If the same horse won the races in Australia he would also be graded C0.

You carry no penalties forward from your 2yo season and you get 2 free 3yo wins.

The horse hasn't won beyond his 3yo season.
    Spot on.

That is in itself the main problem but NZ 3yos can win open aged races as their penalty frees.

Imagine a thoroughbred getting through the system like this. Our handicapping or should I say non handicapping of juveniles is making our product unappealing from a wagering perspective but whatever you do don't remove our penalty free races.

The point is that the horse ran third to Pembrook Benny & Christen Me in 1.54 two starts back and he now gets to take on maidens at Redcliffe.

To not carry any penalties for THREE Group 1 $150,000 age group races is a bit ridiculous.

While that may be a valid point, that's the handicapping system in Australia

The horse comes here no better off than an Australian horse that has won the same number of races as a 2YO and 3YO.
and therein lies the problem Adam,
I saw "Beetson" in a C1 race the other week, nobody can tell me our handicapping is working when a six year old horse that has won $150,000 has a place in a C1

Point taken Greg, but I'm sure if you lined up your bread and butter C1 horse and you've drawn alongside "Beetson" you'd be scratching your head about the equity.

    Cheers,
