Big Jim wins his first start for the 2011 season in 1.51.4 at the Meadowlands.
Of the 9 starters in the NJ Classic Prep, 2 are by Western Ideal and the other 7 are by his son, Rocknroll Hanover.

To me he didn't look like he got out of 2nd gear, he races mainly the same horses with the inclusion of Shadyshark Hanover in the $400k final next wk.

I've heard a little rumour (and I must say, it is only a rumour) that the Meadowlands may be getting slots? Anyone else heard this or know anything about this happening? And that some big financial backers have now stepped in? I really do hope so, it would be a such a shame to loose such an iconic track.

The finacial backers have been negotiating since december last year and they hope to take over the running of the Meadowlands on the 1st of june. They would love to have slots there but they have been given no guarentee that they will ever get slots. They are going to build a new grandstand on the other side of the track not as big as the existing one and once it is built they are knocking the old one down.

I watched Mystician win the Upper Canada Cup by over 6 lengths in 1:50.2 and looked to be doing it easy. How would you compare him to Big Jim and others at this time. It looks like the North America Cup will be a cracking race this year.
Triple says...I suspect if they do go in they'll go in with AC Casino ties...then it will confirm once & for all that it's Boardwalk Empire without the wing tips and snappy suits. Instead of Walter. E. Edge having his strings pulled by Nucky Johnson it'll be Christie having his strings pulled by the AC Casino $$$ that put him in the slot in the first place.
