The man responsible for thankfully giving us the "odds-on FAVS only win about 50% of the time" rule, of all people should know that when you apply that rule to a trotter, particularly a low grade trotter in his case who is still pretty much young and still learning/maturing, even tho highly talented, theres maybe More than a 50% chance you may not win...
Clever and safe from the bookies/tote but as Steve said, trotters, Plan B!!!
Not too many mind you had Looks A Moral winning at about $45 tho, and hows this, he used the non-existent SL at Ballarat, leader drifted up!

    Qld day meeting today...
Not too many on here I'm sure who have their finger on the pulse of these guys but if so,
after 2 death seats in his 6 starts this season for a 7th and 8th and 2 2nds and 2 3rds when not in the death, do ya reckon after another death seat today (that simply wasn't necessary!!!) and now another 7th, that hopefully in his future races, depending on circumstances, that Five Star Trump who shows great promise to win a race at this level, may not be PUT in the death in the near future????????????

yes, I'm talking thru my pocket

Quite right Kev and i think was it Brent in another thread who mentioned that he went like a rocket! Was a nice return to the winners circle for him after getting it right against our 2nd tier Vic trotters.
He is a very fast SS beginner and these Country Cups will have him front and centre if he continues to trot.

Fantastic stuff Noel. I cannot add any facts but if that is a draft of what is going in the racebook I might suggest a couple of 'typo' like corrections. Should be a great event

Thanks for the infomation Noel, and welcome. Is there an age limit to get an invite to this race (over what age)? I wonder how many winners these gentlemen have driven between them? How many of them still drive on a regular basis (Brian Gath but who else)? Being from NSW some names are not as well known to me as others but good to get some information on all the drivers.

Thanks for the feedback. The Bendigo racebook publisher will make corrections. The fields are out for the race...a T 1-3 mobile trot. It's great that trainers have nominated a good field of horses, with winning form in the last three starts for four of the runners . It's race 3 on the card at 7:30 Nov 15th.
    The field: http://www.harness.org.au/fields.cfm?mc=BN151114#3

The Veteran Drivers race is in it's third year. The age of the drivers is 65+, so we had HRV list the current licensed drivers from oldest down to 65 and went from there. The drivers are allocated horses by random draw.
As for the drivers..Brian Gath, Jim O'Sullivan, Glenn Williams, Dick Lee, Graham Lang (aged 84) and Keith Pratt drive regularly. Jack Sullivan drove a winner at the St Arnaud Cup meeting last Sunday. Neville Welsh drives his young trotters in races before handing over to son Clinton. Cliff Powell drove recently at Kilmore. The others train teams of horses (Peter Manning had 2 winners at last week, ) that race regularly, so the field is made up of active participants. Last year the stable area cleared out as everyone watched these veterans of the Melbourne Showgrounds and Moonee Valley ( Harold Park and Wayville as well ) show that they are very capable skilled horsemen.
