Is that the same McGrath family that raced Banooka Bill? Great looking chestnut who did well at the old Horsham track and may have won one at the Showgrounds.
The pedigree has a a personal connection. Queen Ling's dam Gaelic Miss was by Dauntless Peter. First horse to go through the classes at the Showgrounds in one season, winning 8 in a row. He was bred ( Peerless Peter from Louise Wood by Louis Direct) at Shepparton East and raced by my wife's great uncle Joe Hillier.

I'm afraid I do not know the McGrath's Noel - just noticed the surname running all through the pedigree of today's winner. If we are lucky we might here from them or someone who knows them.
I noticed Peerless Peter in the ped - that is some connection AND memory you have

Probably correct Kevin as the figure for French betting for the last 4 trotting races on the Bendigo Cup night (at the Hippodrome de Bendigo) was $1.3 million...... Mon dieu!

That is Maryborough of course - we wouldn't allow that to happen at Stawell

Star Gun disqualified after the all-clear had been given."Chairman of the meeting erred significantly".

RACE 3 Ballarat –BOB FREEMAN MEMORIAL MONTE (1710 SS)
Star Gun underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having started the previous evening. This gelding was subsequently cleared to start.
Star Gun was slow out and will remain outside the standing start draw.
Hakuna Sunset galloped with approximately 800m to travel.
Bill Pepperell tired to be beaten 64m at the finish of the race and a warning was issued.
Telern Tiger tired badly to be beaten in excess of 190m. A post-race veterinary examination of this mare failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities and as a result of the poor performance Telern Tiger has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory trial.
Subsequent to the all-clear being given it was established that Star Gun had galloped just prior to the winning post and acting in accordance with the provisions of AR331 Star Gun was subsequently disqualified from the event however due to the all-clear already being given the original judge’s numbers stood for betting purposes in accordance with the provisions of AR15(1)(ab). In determining this matter stewards took into account the mandatory requirements of the particular rules and that the Chairman of the race meeting had erred significantly by failing to review the replays appropriately.
