Kilmore Cup this Saturday night (Boort Sunday)

I would like to think that that field should bring a few through the gate

How would they split Almost El Eagle and Young Modern for who should be emergency?

Interested in thoughts on the switch to this time of year and whether this will have a positive effect on attendance numbers

Timing is wrong because it is later in the season and the Grand Circuit horses are spelling.
Beautide only there because it had all that time off.
Early in the season, the good horses are getting ready for all the big races.

And to think it was one of the country's leading races where all the big names did not miss to what it is now.
The winners list is a role call of the very best.
Now it's nothing more than a glorified free for all.
If Beautide was not running, this field is no better than a country cup.

What has happened to the FFA Sprint that was held in the October time?? That always was a very good field.

Unfortunately they copped a freezing cold night on Saturday with the 'feels like' temp ranging from 5-7 and I have heard the crowd was consequently down
The Cup was keenly contested and as Rob posted in the Speed thread - a track record

Boort Trotters Cup was only an 8 horse field but it was $5.00 the field - it was so even that there were 6 runners under $8 and although the second roughest got up, he was only $11.50

Went for a look and the 2 Cups were outstanding races with outstanding drives by Gavin Lang.

Yankee Rockstars win showed again what a great racehorse he has become. Given all the problems he has had he's a credit to himself and the connections. Bit surprised that Saturday night was only his 31st start. Magnificent looking beast and one that carries an 'aura' about him for sure. Well done to Anne and Bill on the win and also for all their patience with him.

Great spectacle but unfortunately not many there too see it and the atmosphere was very flat. Chances are a night at end March in Kilmore will be cold and was certainly cold and miserable. The Sunday day meeting was definitely much better in my opinion.

    Surprised to read this

especially that bistro sales were up 80%, maybe it was so bloody cold that everybody was in the bistro. Comparison to the 2014 Sunday meeting may not be fair however as that meeting would have seen a fair few picknickers. You would expect the 200% compared to a normal Saturday - it is the Cup after all
