Such a shame,that's one classy filly.
BUGGER! Unfortunately American Jewel has cracked a sesamoid in a hind, I think it was the off-side?. She has had it operated on and screwed together & will be out for some time I guess. Jimmy Takter was interviewed about it somewhere & he said not long after she came off the track after her narrow defeat at The Red Mile she couldn't put any weight on it. It's a shame because she was going so great but the long term prognosis is apparently very good, 2 to 3 months to heal, and eventually she'll be back & racing some time after that. It's always the way. I think the good ones hurt themselves because they try harder.
