The Tritton stable had a couple of runners at Stawell yesterday and it was the first time I have seen their colours/sulky live - they look fantastic. It would not be as effective if everyone followed suit but a couple of other big stables doing something similar might be a good. Maybe David Aiken could make his yellow fluorescent and Brent Lilley change to fluoro green?

Those responsible for changing the Boort/Charlton meet from yesterday to today. Instead of people and horses enduring temps up to 43° - today it only got up to half that. It no doubt took a lot of people to make it happen - well done all

I now have reliable TV reception (VAST is a real positive for me) which meant that I checked out the Local Win Ballarat news tonight - an extensive coverage of Saturday's Ballarat Cup led the Sport - that is a REAL positive

One of the harness racing nice guys, Phil Ellery, heads back to the races tomorrow.

Phil also drives the mobile at Cranbourne and Warragul and occasionally at Melton also.

He had a horse called Carlewis who won at MV in the 1990s

The Globe Derby sire-line is still alive.
Ironhide, a 3yo son of Pass The Mustard won at Melton last night.
So, as he's a colt, the Globe Derby line, just about extinct, may have a possible spark left:
    Globe Derby > Van Derby> Van Hall> Cute Van>Vanderport>Pass The Mustard> Ironhide

But the big highlight might be that Ironhide was foaled when his dam Royal Ann ( by Vestalba Rainbow from a Royal Dollar mare) was 25yo, and her previous foal was 5 years before that !

Good get Noel. A surprise winner but they must have seen enough to bring him all the way to Melton so you never know - if he can keep improving he may become a 'homebred' sire one day. While not strong, the dam line is the only arm of family A186 to show up at all. Ironhide's much older sister Royal Equity won 15 and finished 4th in a Ballarat Cup in which Sokyola finished 5th

    Re: Ironhide
Another relative Opalite 1:57.0 by Bylaw wasn't too shoddy:
1979 Vic Melbourne S/G Free For All -
    1979 Vic Lyn White FFA
    1980 Vic Moomba Cup
It's quite old fashioned breeding on the dam side isn't it, with
Royal Dollar from a Deep Adios mare from a Silver Peak mare from a Lawn King mare from a Boston Again mare. Basically stems from the Hando family at Peak Hill.
