    Cost of horse care

What is the cost to feed one horse per day? today, 1 empty mare not in the snow.
Hay, hard feed, water, paddock, fencing, caretakers time. have I missed something?
I want my mare to get good quality hay, some hard feed, be in a paddock with some pasture that looks good when I go and see her, good fencing and clean water.
    $15 good
    $10 just

$8 or less and chances are she is looking after herself.

Costs roughly $15,000 - $17,000 a year to race a horse (everything included) - that is not making a profit or anything, just what it purely costs. So basically if your horse can't earn 20k a season it isn't worth keeping!!

The one thing I hate is not having a regular paycheck. I went six weeks one week without seeing a cent, then other weeks you make as much as the Prime Minister! lol! It was very hard to get use to. Guess it teaches one to put money away while you're going good, to get you by when you are going bad. And get rid of anything that can't earn 20k a year, which is still only a measly $380 a week!
