I think it's an excellent idea.
INTEGRITY PARAMOUNT
Security Guards at Menangle

Monday 2 May 2011

A total of 13 horses engaged in the four Group 1 feature events at Tabcorp Park, Menangle on Saturday night had security guards placed on them from approximately 8am that morning.

In alphabetical order they were: Blackjack Bromac, Excel Stride, For A Reason, Im Living The Dream, Mister Anthony, Motu Crusader, Mr Feelgood, Mustang Mach, Perfect Shot, Royal Verdict, Russley Rascal, Smoken Up and Washakie.

HRNSW CEO Sam Nati said: “There is no one reason why particular horses were selected. A number of varying factors are taken into account.”

“Obviously we want a level playing field across all races and our efforts will never wane in that area, but the integrity of feature events is especially paramount.”

“The great thing about Menangle in the near future will be the addition of a detention barn. Horses will be required on course, in some cases, up to six hours prior to competition. We know it won’t make everybody happy, but that’s the direction we’re moving.”

Harness Racing NSW (HRNSW) is the controlling body for harness racing in New South Wales with responsibility for commercial and regulatory management of the industry including 31 racing clubs across the State.
