Wow! What an intriguing saga this has been. I was shocked to hear that Mark Purdon and Natalie are setting up together back in NZ. Must have been some major upset in the plan to reverse what seemed like a serious commitment by Mark and key staff to cross the ditch!!

Just heard it on Lenny Bakers radio program and had it confirmed by a subsequent phone call to someone in the know.

I was told that the Met looks like picking up $13mil which will make the decision a little easier too I guess. Good luck to him and Nat. I hope they find happiness & success wherever they end up training from.

Not hard to guess who will be leading trainer now for the 2011/2012 season.

Indeed. Yet another NSW Trainer's Premiership sweep for Vern Norrgard.

Yes the 13 million The Met has picked up is a major event here in the South Island but a significant issue is that the NZ Racing Board is being granted a class 4 licence for gaming machines. It's something that we have been pushing for a long time now and the money generated will support all areas of racing. In a strategic plan that has not been unveiled yet I think we will see a major stakes rise across the board.
