These blokes need to go to Jail for what they've apparently been up to.
HRNSW need to get the Fraud Squad and the ICAC involved and charge all these bastards and everyone else involved, try them in Court and if they're convicted see to it that the Beak gives them all a good long stretch for their efforts.
I just cannot begin to express how absolutely disugusted I am.
Fix Bayonets! None of this God damned pussy footing of frigging around being charged by Stewards and suspended or disqualified from Harness Racing. They need to be charged by Police and jailed.

What is alleged to have occurred has far reaching ramnifications for the entire Industry. It makes the entire Industry look like it is crook in the eyes of the Public. If found guilty, make an example of those that have been corrupt and throw the book at them. Send a message that this type of behaviour and action will not be tolerated.

Yes, this is certainly bad "publicity" for the harness industry. A couple of acquaintances who have no interest at all in any aspect of the industry say they have heard about this in the general press and asked me what it was all about.

With NSW harness racing just getting back on it's feet after being in the doldrums for so long , this is the very last scandal that we need.

G'day all,

You know what REALLY, REALLY shits me to the back teeth?
In recent times my observation has been that the two Stewards to have resigned would all but go out of their way to pick on/pick up on the smaller/single horse stable trainers and drivers on what seemed to me to be very minor technicalities (see numerous previous rants about the inconsistent/inexplicable application & lack of application of the Change Of Tactics rule and the subsequent questioning/action or otherwise the complete lackthereof)...and then, having done so they'd proceed to make a big deal of their questioning/warning/fining and then of the writing up in the accompanying Stewards Reports....and all framed as though it was they (the smaller/single horse stable trainers & drivers) who were the ones up to no good.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

triple, I understand and I empathise completely with you. Let's just let justice take it's course and not do anything or make any comments that might prejudice the case ( or make comments that others may use to say prejudices their client's legal rights).

I know we are ALL VERY VERY angry about this but let's just take a back seat for now.

I hear there have been more than a dozen letters sent out to trainers and/or drivers. Who else has got them?

Everyone posting or reading this - Let's put an end to the comments in this thread.

We all know this is a VERY serious matter affecting a lot of people and the industry overall , but please , all of you , realise that the course of law MUST take place.

Making comments here , no matter how passionate or upset you feel about the stewards sacking matter and the fire bombing , you must realise that down the track comments made in the media and elsewhere ( here for instance) can be used by the defence in any possible court action to say that their clients were prejudiced in the matter. I am sure that is not what any of you want to happen.

Let's take a deep breath and calm down , and let matters proceed. HRNSW say they will make no further comments on matters that may be coming before the law. Although at times we may disagree with HRNSW , let's heed that advise and stay silent.

Such a shame that Harness Racing is tarnished again.

VVV Good point about other dubious decisions. I hope a few of these are looked into again and clarified.:mad::mad::mad:

How ironic that Greg Hayes only a couple of days ago in his column The Hayes Files was stating that New Zealand Security Procedures were a worry while in his very own backyard in NSW we have what would appear on all fronts to be Stewards and Officials that have been blatantly corrupt.

I was never a big fan of Sam Nati on "In the Gig" but it was always very clear that he loves the sport. I think he has done a great job since taking over and I'm sure he will do his best to clean things up and not just brush them under a rug. This story just keeps getting bigger and I bet there's a lot more to come. I hope the other states are watching and make sure that their houses are in order.

Steward's report Race 8 at penrith last night the winner got inside run from stable mate they finished 1-2 and nothing mentioned just thought it was a bit odd or am i just suspicious of steward's and consistency

RACE 8 – TRENT WATERHOUSE PACE – 1720 METRES
IMA COLLINA was subject to pre race blood testing.
The driver of BLISSFULL PRINCESS (A Towers) was reprimanded under Rule 156(3)(b) for unacceptable whip use over the concluding stages of the event.
The trainer of EASTWOOD KESTREL NZ (M Tuema) was fined the sum of $100 for failing to gain permission from the Stewards to warm the horse up prior to the running of Race 8.
Permission was granted for B Sarina to replace the indisposed G McElhinney on RUNAWAY MATE.

Watched that one too Greg. You've got a jaundiced eye mate :D:D:D but given recent events I doubt anyone can blame you. For a while we'll all be seeing rats under roofing iron, whether they're there or not. Nothing nefarious...I believe both horses are bred & owned by trainer, driver & family.

It's true , triple. My harness friends and I seem to be taking more than a passing interest in driving tactics these days and are closely scrutinising drives. A lot more than we did previously.

That's probably a good thing , however when something looks decidedly "fishy" we really need the stewards to do a lot more than accept a driver's often glib explanation and do no more than beat them around the ears with a wet lettuce! Disclaimer - this is in no way a comment on the race mentioned specifically in this thread as have not seen.

G'day Ozninja,

I think it's great that we'll all be looking at this stuff far more closely than perhaps we did previously. Not before time. I welcome it because it has long been my contention that the inception of the TAB and the advent of very widespread off track betting has produced entire generations of Punters that have effectively missed some crucial schooling.
Their understanding of racing is IMO not anywhere near what it would be had they been more widely exposed to wagering & watching races from trackside...and as a result I think the general standard of Stewarding has dropped away accordingly as they're also not being called to account by the Punters any more than the drivers who do such things are called to account by the Punters.
By that I mean these days there seems to be many thousands of Punters who couldn't read race tactics as they pertain to the individual horses involved & their respective capabilities...if their lives depended upon it.
I can very vividly recall some extremely loud and angry on-course Punter protests when certain things happened in a race that they picked up on as being not entirely on the up & up.
Those guys were seasoned race-goers, they knew exactly what they were looking at and they'd hang over the fence and absolutely give it to the driver or drivers they felt had stiffed them.
These days by comparision the Punters are a very, very mild bunch indeed. Half the time I am sure they don't even notice dodgy happenings and unfortunately in some instances so go (legitametly) some of the Stewards to boot.

Correct. There are persons on both sides of the fence who quite frankly would not notice if their pants were on fire!

Mate if you think its not crook you must be on another planet. drivers who work hot are not outed for long enough and come back to continue on their merry way. would bank re employ a teller if he was working hot ...no
