Most of us were shocked when we only learned on the very night that Black's A Fake would be retired after that race.
Lot's of us who were not there never had a chance to say goodbye to this beloved warhorse.
How about a special tribute "Farewell" night at Albion Park with all proceeds going to charity. I'm sure the industry would get behind it and with a special appearance by the champ himself and get the standing ovation and thanks from all those that have loved him over so many years.
Videos of his countless memorable victories could be shown between races , caps, souvenirs available etc. etc.

My lasting image of him will be his win in the Newcastle Heats of the Sydney ID. S-U-P-E-R S-T-A-R!

The first Interdom I ever saw live, in person was his Sydney Interdom win. What a special day! I had either been overseas or interstate when each of his Interdom runs were on.

When I cast my mind back Flashing, it probably took me a little while longer than it did most others to really tune in and realise just how good he was. Basically what got my attention in the end was that the bastard just kept on winning races. :D:D:D:D
Most memorable was that 9 race romp he went on from Feb. 3rd through to October 25th of 2008. He kicked off with a Hunter Cup, a FFA, a Semi & Final of the ID, a couple more FFA's, a Gold Coast Cup, the QLD Pacing C'Ship and a Trans Tasman. AWESOME.

I thought a number of his wins were due to being gifted the lead and walking the first half, but having raced at Menangle and watched plenty of races there, you soon see that hardly any horses can come three wide 800m out and still win. Yet he did that against the best in Australasia and ran a world record 1:53. Absolutely amazing. Whether he won a few races "bluffing" or not it doesn't matter - when push came to shove he would have won being taken on anyway. Just took me that Menangle Interdom to realise that. I always thought he was a good horse, but that run just sent chills down my spine :)
Real shame he hasn't quite been at his best the last 12 months. I know Smoken Up has improved in the past 12 months but I think in Blackie's heyday he was better than them all. Really glad to have watched him race so many times :)

To me the fact he did get so many easy leads shows how much of a champion he was. Many start juveniles get leads because they are so dominant, yet it just doesn't happen in class. Blackie made it happen because he was so far ahead of the rest.
Great idea OP.

As he would enter the home straight for the last time I would be thinking(sometimes yelling) he is not going to hold on ahhhhhhh, he did show us the true champion that he is many times.
I have 4 favorite race his Globe Derby Inter. his defeat by Safari in the Bendigo Cup, His Hunter Cup win off the back mark and his Menangle Inter he carried the weight of the fans that day to win. A bit Like Aussie's post in that most of his defeats were almost as miraculous as his greatest wins.
