The start and Tiger Tara provided the most excitement other than the class of the winner.

You would be feeling very unlucky if you had a quid on Dream About Me (Lenient Steward Kev would consider a DFS appeal). I reckon we could call SS's walk up starts nowadays

Tiger Tara's effort to death seat then cost himself 10m and posn by skipping in the last lap and yet finish on for 3rd was amazing

Outsider Maxim would have got 2nd if the run hadn't closed

The 1917 New Zealand Cup, won by Adelaide Direct , bred in Bendigo at the old Adelaide Hill Stud, owned at Baringhup (near Maldon) by Sam Lewis, winner at Marong, Charlton, Maryborough, Richmond, Sydney,, Auckland and Addington, took pride of place with the 2017 Cup at the NZ Cup celebrations.

It was great to see the effort that the NZ Cup administrators took to value this historical event and trophy, and celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Adelaide Direct's win.

The 1917 Cup. which will be returning to Bendigo over the weekend, is part of the rapidly growing History and Memorabilia Collection of the Bendigo Harness Racing Club.

Well done to the kiwis for that effort. Good to see history being valued and memories kept alive. Cheers Noel, I would not have known about that unless you had put it on this forum.
