Not sure what effect this drug would have on a horse but Lee Hunter did fight to the very end to get the charges dropped. D.Aiken may need to take a leaf out of her book.

If the B sample comes back positive he will first and foremost need to have an explanation of how a drug

Have a positive in NSW the trainer always gets stood down so why not Aiken. Is this just yet another example of go easy on the big fish but throw the book at the less well known/hobby/battler trainer?

If the B sample comes back positive he must be stood down or it just makes a joke of the whole "integrity" push. If this was some small time bush trainer they would be treated by the rules, not given special treatment. HRV should insist that NSW follow normal procedures.

Don't those who contest being stood down, have it overturned anyway

In Vic usually yes. In Qld & NSW usually no.

A mischievous/suspicious mind would think that Lenny and his Interdom campaign had a bearing on the no stand down.

To be fair, the B sample is yet to be tested - a mischievous/suspicious mind would wonder whether that might take longer than usual

I have been told that this drug can be used to quieten a horse down.
Somehow that doesn't seem as bad as I feared
Thoughts?

Lasix helps to reduce bleeding.
Sodium Bicarbonate helps to reduce muscle soreness.
Bute helps to reduce pain.
Etc.
AND
Recently, some trainers / stables returned positive swabs / overages in NSW to the following drugs / processes and have continued training ;
Synephrine
Cocaine
Boldenone
Plasma
Would anything really change for participants and punters if we had stricter drug policies?
What if there was an independent national body that tested and served penalties?

there are plenty off accepted sedatives out there kev.vets treating injured horses etc. we even had a horse that was impossible to shoe, the smithy had his own sedative to quieten her down, job done, no harm to horse or farrier...but to be given to horses before racing?Hmmmm.

True Allan. Hmmm - maybe if you wanted a horse to race less fiercely?
