Centurion ATM frozen semen will be available to the Trotting folks this season, He broke the World record at 2yrs of age and is extremely interesting, He’s from the same direct maternal family line as Sundon and looks the perfect fit for Sundon mares, He will stand for $3000 pay on live foal

I believe that the owners are keen to send Centurion ATM here in the flesh and I’m pretty sure that the same terms will apply, $3000 including GST, Pay on live foal

It would be good if all services were "pay on live foal". It would save breeders losing their free return if their mare died or it was too late in the season to serve your mare again. It would also give them a chance to change stallions. This is something HRA could look at to give breeders some better protection from losing their money.

Totally agree Rick, One of my mares lost a foal shortly after I had paid the service fee which was around 5k, I had to wait until the following season and then the stallion didn’t come back

Richard, I've lost 2 service fees during my involvement of 20 odd years breeding. Luckily they weren't too large a sum. I think HRA should force studs to offer "Pay on live foal" as the only option. You pay the agistment and working fee when you pick the mare up and the service fee if you get a live foal.
Another issue that annoys me is how a "service fee" used to include impregnating your mare. Now with transported semen they call it a service fee but charge a working fee to impregnate your mare even if you go to the stallions location. It should be called a "semen fee" if it does not include servicing the mare.
