Following his dominant Maori’s Idol Trotters Free win at Melton on Saturday night, John Meade has advised Harness Racing Australia that his star trotter has suffered a suspensory ligament injury and his future racing career is in doubt.

Yes, doing the rounds on Twitter, Sparkling Success has a suspensory injury and will need around 15 months to recover. Devastating to have any horse succumb to such a serious injury and my heart goes out to the Meades and Chris Svanosio who were on the cusp of a life changing adventure.

Shattering news for John and Mary Meade - Sparkling Success has succumbed to an injured suspensory and will NOT be travelling to the USA to compete in the International Trot. Best case scenario is a 15 month layoff. In The Gig was at the stables today
