Not official as I cannot find it anywhere but somebody told me that Natalie Rasmussen has been suspended for 8 weeks

Remember this:

An inquiry was opened into the running and handling of CHASE AUCKLAND NZ in the home straight on the final occasion. Following driver N Rasmussen providing an explanation into her drive, the inquiry was adjourned to allow Stewards to make further inquiries into the running of the event. The inquiry is set to resume at Menangle, Saturday 23rd February.

I hope we are going to see some detail of the Rasmussen investigation today - 8 weeks when driving the favourite in a Gp1 requires an explanation for the public

Anybody found anything?
Do HRNSW do supplementary reports like Vic or where will we find it
To quote the Trotguide article:

"Stewards deemed that Rasmussen failed to give the four-year-old all reasonable chance in the Group One"

What are they suggesting?

Thanks Wayne (suspended Saturday night but no details until Tuesday morning is average)
I would have liked to have seen what Rasmussen's explanation was

Rc1. Franco Landry to cross Double Encounter which means The Bus won't find the pegs. Therefore race is between Franco Landry and Wrangler. Tri 3-8 / 1-3-4-8 / 1-3-4-8
Rc2. War Dan Destroyer with advantage of draw and home track but Big Jack Hammer the better horse. Tough Monarch will come across and apply pressure. Blazing Under Fire probably the value runner as will slot 1-1 or 1-2 do no work and things coming 3wide probably get a stitch so will get a run. Problem is can't eat value if it finishes 4th behind the main 3 players.
Rc3. The draw was always going to decide the favourite but I think $1.55 Princess Tiffany still represents value. Would be quite the upset if Kualoa can win from the carpark.
Rc4. I think the market will close the gap (even more than it has in past 24hrs) between Dream About Me and Tell Me Tales. $6.50 Tell Me Tales on Ladbrokes represents a good trading opportunity I feel. Carlas Pixel $1.60 to place with TAB looks a lock.
Rc5. Muscle Factory a lay. Can't see Centenario handing up. So either have to give Centanario an easy lead and Centerario probably wins with MF close up in the finish as is likely to happen. Or possibly try and lead, which really brings Hurricane Harley into it and even Lochinvar Art and Demon Delight.
Rc6. San Carlo $7/$2.30. 3 drawn inside him are traditionally hand up horses. He has his fair share of gate speed. He is a stayer. Really good race but he is terrific value
Rc7. Every runner has likely scenarios where they can't win the race. Poster Boy doesn't see daylight. Field Marshall too far back. Tiger Tara burnt too early. The Fixer probably the safest go to be in the photo at the finish but a no bet race for mine
Rc8. Stewart juggernaut roll on?
Rc9 Picard will be leading this, Black Prince on his back, Ignatius to the chair. Ignatius probably bounces back and wins. But Black Prince $31/$4.80 worth a nibble. Beaten length Picard similar circumstances a few weeks ago but Picard might have hit the wall now and the racing at this level may have helped Black Prince. Let It Ride probably fly down the outside fence and knock Black Prince back to 4th right on the line!

Ripper meeting.

Both Tritton runners in the MM are 200/1
Does that mean the selection/elimination process has failed?

It can be said that it may be one of a number of reasons along with the perception of bookies who don't select the field.
The amount of money invested on them compared to other runners.
Certainly the selection process appears flawed or in the minds of some, a joke or a farce.
The Miracle Mile has always been by invitation. From its earliest times there was never a dearth of the very best trying to achieve an invite and 6 of the VERY BEST around Australia and later when travel made it easier, Australasia, succeeded in getting an invite and thus coming together to put on truly the race of the year. (Even allowing for the glamour and horse class of the NZ Cup). The selectors of the field of only 6 (no emergencies !!!!) in those times had something the selectors of today are very lacking in. IMHO and that of many others.
The MM is the one race in the world of any code that a place in it was the ultimate for anyone involved in the sport. Hence the horses were so even and the odds on each also. There was never a need to change the conditions of entry as has been done. That include but not restricted to the change of venue and track size. That this has been done so often over a relatively short period of time is the classic case in point the well known sayings... If it ain't broke don't try to fix it. Leave well alone !!!

With Tee Cee here I’d like to see the MM go back to an invitation race. The qualifying race format leads to the possibility of best on the day not best overall gaining a start with potentially barrier draw playing too large a part and, as has happened here suggestions of some only doing enough to qualify not impress.

$1m+ invitation race 6 runners plus emergencies to ensure field size of 6 with a $1m+ pick six pool for punters and barrier draw on the sails of the opera house for mine!

The system was only Majordan galloping at Newcastle off being in the field and Cruz Bromac a whisker off being in the field in place of those two. With that you've got the fastest open age miler and ID favourite so would have been a better quality field.
Perhaps an argument only winner goes through from the heats. Lead to better quality run heats. Probably have to put heats back to Chariots night if that was the case - too hard to run 1.49 heat week then 1.48 final week.
With the 6V8 can we compromise with 7? Wide barrier and last pairs don't do well in a Miracle Mile, but the danger of being the last pair makes the pace greater in the first 400m which brings the middle pairs more in to the race. If only 6 horses can see there being no great urgency in finding a forward spot and we get lackadaisical first halves.

I could go with 7 and a pick 7! Story on a horse for everyday of the week for the lead in. Isn’t 7 most people’s pick as a lucky number? That can only help

David Aiken had 2 in the Derby (v Emma Stewart's 5) and he quinellaed it with $71 and $81 pops
Max Delight was huge doing it both ends in a race where they took 1.2 secs off the Tk Rec

1.51.5 for 2400m

While in the MM the first 400m was sadly as exciting as it got - the tritton's landing Death and 1x1 did not help.
Mile racing generally disappoints

Why was it that Kima did not get any of the drives on David Aiken's Gp1 performers?
(a couple of whom she had been the regular driver)

Dot
03-04-2019, 02:16 AM
Definately would have been more exciting if Nat held out Mark. Perhaps if we go back to 7 by invitation it’s specified only one invite per stable! That would put the cat among the pidgeons and might see a horse or two shifting homes!

Owners prerogative Kev who drives their horse so you’d have to ask them why, might have felt Kima didn’t have enough experience driving at Menangle.
