This is pretty much the greatest resource we have in the harness racing industry and the envy of the gallops world BUT we have at present lost it because they cannot find a sponsor
Come on Studs, Sales Companies, National and State bodies this cannot be allowed to happen
Do whatever it takes, drop the sponsorship of a race, band together, raid the piggy bank, .....
Could they sell subscriptions?
HELP! HELP! HELP!
I am devastated
I agree Kev, perhaps the studs and sales companies don’t want it, they’ve had plenty of time to step up, and well the site is perhaps best for dispelling the myths that both perpetuate. The governing bodies will say they have their own database, nowhere near as good of course, but try telling them that about anything.
So subscriptions or pop up adds it might have to be.
In the meantime I guess I may get some more chores done.......

I hope to get a response from Andrew Kelly at HRA and David Martin at HRV, whom I have both emailed
It has been suggested to me that ClassicFamilies is the type of resource that HRA should be providing so here is their chance

Classic Families Management is proud to announce that a sponsor has been secured for 12 months commencing August 1. The sponsor dovetails perfectly into what Classic Families offers to its users.
Good news Noel. I’d heard a whisper something would be announced this week. It’s a great relief I really have no fondness for chores.....

I've had withdrawal pains ! It's such a brilliant resource.
Had to locate my black stud books.

I was beginning to regret not having kept up my updates to Ian Daff's Little Black Book
(which is what I did until I discovered ClassicFamilies)
I’ve been going here:

Not the same but an addict has to get a fix somehow.

Well I was never afforded the courtesy of a reply from Andrew Kelly or David Martin so maybe they didn't want the news getting out it is them although with a start date of Aug1 you might think it is HRNZ

If you are needing Trotters Only...this Swedish website is brilliant. Anything with pacing blood in it ( like Maoris Idol) is not in the data base,
http://www.blodbanken.nu:8080/servlet/GetBBData?breed=warm&trotter=yield+boko&existing=Search
Thanks Noel, wonder what they’ll do if some of the Googoo Gaa Gaa’s they bred in Sweden start kicking goals!!

Andrew Kelly did get back to me and although aware that they now have a sponsor, he has asked to meet with them to look into the future

30 days in September, April, June and November. All the rest have 31 except for February ......
Maybe they want to open it back a wee bit early, less chance it crashes tomorrow!
Was the “AD” icon in the recent look up list before? I must have missed it if it was.

No, I think the variety of Ads have only appeared since it went off-line.
I love the "100 years in Harness" for $170US - you can still get the softcover from the USTA for $15US

Taking a positive and modern approach maybe Lego would come on board with

If an actual family itself wanted to sponsor them, I would be worried if they chose

I would have to be Michael/Al Pacino who is missing from the wedding group and why I think that photo was never taken in the movie for Don Corleone said "We are not taking the picture without Michael" ;)

Look like some of the usual suspects mentioned regularly in the Stewards Report thread. Any trainers / drivers in Australia named Gambino?

OMG In all the time I have been using ClassicFamilies (10+yrs?), I just discovered that I have missed/failed to use the Pedigree tab
Don't ask me how
I think I stupidly just assumed the 4 generation pedigree on the Details page you get from the Horse Info search page was it
I have to say OMG again. The Pedigree tab at the end of the line (all of which I have used 100's of times) gives you a 6 generation pedigree with colour crosses and the works
:o (embarrassed emoticon!)

While you are finding good things in CF, try this ..it's great now that JP has updated Wayville and The Showgrounds to include all horses that have won over 5 races there,
Try this :
Click on TRACKS
Click on LOCATION so that the tracks are sorted alphabetically
Select the track you want eg Stawell
Click on STAWELL
Click on RESULTs
Bingo, every winner of every classic race ever run at Stawell.
Try Wayville or Ascot for some of the old time gems.

Thanks Noel, I will start with Melbourne Showgrounds to jog my memory of the greats I saw there when first introduced to the trots. I wish I still had the Year Books

Thank heavens we have ClassicFamilies
I have started a bit of research and looking up Tailamade Lombo on HRA, you would believe that she only won one Gp1
Lucky we have Classic where we find that she won eleven Gp1's
Maybe some have been made Gp1's retrospectively but that is some discrepancy.
A couple that might be contentious is whether APG finals were Listed or Gp1
We are talking around the turn of this century not the 80's so you would expect HRA's records to be accurate but maybe not for if you look up Group Racing on HRA Online they only go back to 2001-2
