Perhaps an update from Danno? Mechanically it should achieve what it aims to but not sure what the soloution to the chaffing is?

Sorry I can't be of any assistance, mine is still hanging on the wall of the shed.....until I throw it away.

i tried it on a mare i had- first time i used it worked ok but then next workout would not go at all until i took it off, so i can probably say she was being temperamental about it , the theory is good but the chafe was a problem and i had her well oiled up

I've used one made from black poly pipe (a lot less friction) for training decades ago, with olive oil for lube.
Haven't needed to race with one but wonder about heat shrink tubing over the foam ones, with olive oil.
