Just noticed today that harness.org.au is closing the Trading Ring on October 31.
Just another nail in the coffin . This service has been very useful to thousands of industry participants over the years and is a vital part of the industry.

standardbredtrader.com.au is offering 20 free advertisements and is in consultation re offering all basic advertisements free.
This is a dedicated standardbred trading website.
If successful then this is a significant improvement on trading ring's current offering as it includes lots more practical features. I.e. search, sort, pedigree, hypothetical mating etc.. Should be a win for the industry.

I hope they can go to free adds Richard, their adds are very good. We really need one main site for standardbred sales otherwise there will be adds spread out all over different sites that will make it a nightmare for buying and selling horses.
The other worrying thing is are they going to start dropping other useful services on the site that require time and money ?

Hi Rick,
standardbredtrader.com.au are offering free basic advertisements going forward https://www.standardbredtrader.com.au/news/
Note - the following was published on the trading ring;
To assist the industry to transition to alternatives to the Trading Ring, a list of other sites that offer standardbreds for sale is provided below.
www.EquiDirectory.com.au
www.facebook.com/groups/728471140553346
www.harnesstradingring.com.au
www.standardbredtrader.com.au
Inclusion in the above list does not imply an endorsement from RISE or its partners.
standardbredtrader, equidirectory and the facebook page have been operating for some time. harnesstradingring is new... others have indicated that they may start something also. . 1 site would be much easier. .Let's see what happens.
We're reluctantly selling stock and have advertised them on standardbredtrader at this link (https://www.standardbredtrader.com.au/search?search_term=&sire=&damsire=&state=&price=&wins=<s=&lp_lts=&bmr=&m400=&m800=&sex=&sortorder1=&agency1=&lotview=default&country=&sortorder=&agency=ALPHASTUD).
Thanks,

Well the Trading ring has been closed for a few weeks and just as I feared there are now many places selling standardbreds, some are free. We no longer have one convenient free site for horse sales, you now have to look at 5 or 6 different sites. Thanks HRA.

Of course the other way to sell horses is in claimers
Owner Marc Panton must want to sell Dusty Martini to have this 4yo in a $9k claimer at only his 14th start at Melton today
