King of Swing runs a 1.48.7 last week and can't get a run. And you would only be splitting hairs to kick something out for him. There is amazing depth around at the moment.

Tornado Valley not going its best but drawn to lead I think can win.

Chase Auckland I think has been driven conservatively with stablemates in the race but now he is the stables only hope I can see him being driven more positively and should start favourite here. Alta Orlando was huge in the Shirley Turnbull Memorial and Our Uncle Sam has really franked that form. Lochinvar Art horrible draw but really interesting and will go close. Bad draws but have to include Our Uncle Sam (bad draw for winning but almost guaranteed to run a place), A Gs White Socks & Code Bailey on the basis of their Ballarat Cup. If Mach Shard can cross Alta Orlando he will be in the finish as well. Great race!

I see HRV are donating profits from the sale of "Summer Glory" merchandise to Gavin Lang.
Just had a look at the merch and it's basically just Summer glory in a circle on polo shirts and caps. Nothing to indicate that it's a harness racing event, no horses, dates etc. Is this the best our marketing gurus can come up with ? From the team that wants drivers colours ! They look like a work uniform at best.

I reckon you have done well to find the merchandise Rick, I have been searching for 15 mins and still haven't!
Pretty hard to sell what people can't find

I cant find it on the HRV site, it's on twitter. So it's not just you Kevin . It's on the site somewhere but without the twitter link it is very hard to find.

Thanks Rick, I don't twitter

Contacted HRV 2pm yesterday and in under 10 mins got a reply from Belinda in admin that she had forwarded my request for a link to Marketing

I have still heard nothing or seen nothing from marketing to address the matter

Maybe they are only selling it on course as this is the last week ?

Thanks again Rick, it certainly is plain - maybe the fact that the money is going to a good cause, may sell a few

It needs to be something that people could wear all year and promote the sport. This merch provides nothing, no information. Could be about anything, only current participants would know what it was promoting. They need better marketing people asap.

When will get people who have ANY idea about who marketing ought to be targeting?

Gotta say you Mexicans are not real flash at this across the board, anyone noticed the new Australian Tennis Open logo......an inverted V and an O, I wonder what/which intellectual giant dreamed that up and how pray did they convince senior decision makers of it's effectiveness??

SUNDAY’S Australian Pacing Gold Sale has two late entries.

Originally catalogued for 200 yearlings, the sale will now include a pair of valuable memorabilia items to help raise funds for Gavin Lang’s ongoing treatment.

I never did hear back from HRV's marketing department - I am sure they will have an excuse (post 10)

Veterinary Examinations - San Carlo to be further examined

I found this on the HRA site - it really should be on the HRV site too (HRV's thetrots.com.au doesn't like to include stewards news or IMO anything that it deems to be negative however it could sing its own praises regarding increased integrity measures for the carnival but not post important info like that above)

Makes it an even better race as San Carlo could not have won

It says that Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) issued a media release on Thursday outlining the fact stewards had found San Carlo to be “mildly lame in the off foreleg”

I know there is no meeting today in Vic, but thetrots.com not putting the mini calendar up for the next few days makes it hard to find last night's results page too (you have to go to Racing then full calendar then last night - HRA site once again proving itself superior)

Alta Orlando was savaged by Bling It On on the float on the way to track and threw his head up sustaining a cut above the eye - scratched but not too serious.
Mach Shard has an ongoing foot problem - he was reasonable Saturday morning - they tried reshoeing but he was deemed unfit to run
