After having 4 runs after a break Mr feelgood you'd think would be spot on, so i'm with mightymo and be staggered if he hands up.

This will be an exciting race and i can't wait to watch it, is it possible that another horse beside's Mr Feelgood and Smoken Up will try and get the lead and then hand up straight away.

Hesa Buzzin perfectly draw for an upset. At least a live place chance and should start 4th favourite behind the 3 real grand circuit horses.

Think Washakie is in with a very strong chance. Looked the goods beating Mr Feelgood two starts ago, then carted Smoken Up in the Gold Coast cup. If he can get the sit this time around I think he can turn the tables on the champ and cause an upset at odds

Without rewatching the replay, I'm pretty sure Washakie held the lead and surrended the lead to Smoken Up mid race, can't see how that is carting Smoken Up into the race? He had every opportunity to run Smoken Up down and he couldn't?

You're dead right Flashing. Just on that, Why would Washakie, after holding the lead from the start suddenly hand it up with just under a lap to go? Could it be that the driver saw Mr Feelgood coming 3 wide and decided it was better to hand up and therefore let the stablemate into the 2 wide line?

He went super last week :) I love it when the big races are on, we are really blessed to watch genuine Grand Circuit stars like Smoken Up, Mr Feelgood and Washakie clash and Hesa Buzzin I'm sure will run a might race too :)

Lifetime (Australian) marks of the field....

Mr Feelgood - 1:52 (best time in Australia)
Smoken Up - 1:48
Be Good Johnny - 1:54 (on a half mile)
Washakie - 1:50
Inthelightofday - 1:54
Loosen The Load - 1:56
Be Diligent - 1:52
Artifactor - 1:55
Heza Buzzin - 1:55
Atomic Ark - 1:54 (TT)

I remember even just 5-6 years ago they hardly broke 1:55/1:56 at Albion Park. Now 3 entrants have run 1:52 at Albion Park and Australia has its first sub 1:50 winner. We've come along way in a short time :)

Mr Feelgood to hand up to Smoken Up, and thats the last they'll see of him. Smoken Up is head and shoulders above anything else running around in Australia or New Zealand.

What about the old stager who's been right through that transition; Be Good Johnny ran behind Double Identity when Double Indentity wen his career best 1.53.5 and 5 years later will still be here at the same carnival.

He's an old marvel, its a credit to McCarthys that they can can keep him going and race the elite for so long. :) I'd reckon they would just about class that horse as "family"!! :)

A bit of a sentimental reason, but I'd love Inthelightofday to win. I use to drive his mother, she was an absolute favourite of mine. :)

You are right, your posts and one of mightymo's has vanished?

I'm not sure if it is related, but last night I had a lot of difficulty actually getting the forum page up, I kept getting errors etc and had to repost the same thing several times because my posts wouldn't appear. I wonder if the two incidents are related?

No. I know he's on the sidelines at the moment but he was every bit as good as Smoken Up in the Inter final and in earlier races in Victoria before that eg Cranbourne Cup.

ITMQ was not as good as Smoken Up in the Inter Final. He had every chance to pick him up but couldn't! Smoken Up has won just about every Grand Cicuit race on the calender in the last 12 months (bar the Vic. Cup and NZ Cup). He'll win again Saturday night and then go on and win in New Zealand, and that will probably silence a few doubters. I haven't seen a more dominant Grand Circuit horse for quite a while. Now whether the horses he is racing are not that good, or he is an out and out champion, I'm not sure, but I can't see any among this crop of Grand Circuit horses who can beat him on his merits. Maybe Sushi Sushi can next season?

Lolwut 4 inters and 2 placings isnt dominant enough.
I'm prepared to accept we disagree on the dominance of Smoken Up but that bolded part was silly.

I agree. As good as Smoken Up is, he hasn't equaled the feats of Blacks A Fake (yet).

Gee the champ has only been retired a few months and people are already forgetting about him! :)

Ha ha ha. Two years is quite a while isn't it? What I should have clarified, is his dominance over this season. He is getting a real picket fence going. And no, I haven't forgotten what Blackie has achieved, and is never likely to be done again. I wasn't trying to compare them.

sticking with Mr, dont think he will hand up..
question is..is he going as good as he was 12 months ago?? when he won this leading with blackie sitting outside him and running a 1.55...see it being run in a similar manner.
hesa buzzin to get a soft run and run on well..

Gd to see quinny back @ GP friday

And come race day I don't have a bet. $2.40 the place.

Ok. :p

Be Good Johnny startd $4.20 on NSW TAB. $30,000 pool that represents about $6000 placed on him when it was probably expected $1000 would be wagered on him at the most in a pool of that size. I reckon some drunken punter who won a fortune on the Moonee Valley gallops today must have just lost 5K or a similar figure on him.

His best bet of beating Smoken Up was to take the sit, IMHO and the race ended up panning out how I thought (other than I did think Smoken Up would still win)... I've seen Mr Feelgood reel off 25 second quarters at the Meadowlands off a sit - he has such a brilliant sprint. It was a great tactical drive by Luke and Kevin and Kay deserve all the success they can get with what they put into the industry :)

It takes a big man to admit he was wrong Brenno. Unfortunately I'm not a big man. Caps off a crap day for me today on the punt. Backed Jimmy in the plate (Damn that long Moonee Valley straight), and had $20 straight out on the first 4 in the Qld pacing championship on Smoken Up to win from MFG, Hesa Buzzin for third, Washakie for 4th.

You've done better than me. Ginga Dude and Glass Harmonium let me down badly; at least you were cheering in the straight; my tickets were ripped up turning for home.
