It is almost time to start thinking about stallions for the 2020/21 breeding season. If anyone needs some help finding the right stallion for your budget please let me know and I can help you out.

Breeding is not about finding the best racehorse or performed stallion for your broodmare, its about finding the right match for your broodmare and if you breed to race your stallion choice is not limited to the stallions that the buyers want at sales.

Horses I have helped breeders with pedigree matching are just hitting the track, though if you click on the link below you will see the broodmares, foals, yearlings and the pedigrees of the progeny.

The two horses to have hit the track are full siblings FEELS LIKA WINNER & FEELS LIKA BOSS, both are by MR FEELGOOD and are out of MODERN ART broodmare SHEZ JUSLIKA.

The yearling filly below is out of a broodmare purchased out of Trotguide on my recommendation as she suited a friends Stallions (Mr Feelgood & Bling It On), she is by Bling It On out of Iadora.

Home grown stallions attract strong support

... in the current season five sons of those Stallions - American Ideal, Art Major, Bettors Delight and Somebeachsomewhere – have all bred over 100 mares in Australia.

The acceptance by breeders of these five stallions – For A Reason, Poster Boy, Soho Tribeca, Ultimate Machete and Vincent – represents a big step forward for our Breeding Industry.

The positive signs don’t end with these five stallions either. The 2016 Australian 2YO of the Year The Storm Inside and the Inter Dominion champion Tiger Tara were strongly fancied by Australian breeders as well with around 90 and 80 mares bred respectively.

Bling It On, who mixes his racing and breeding career, is another stallion who has been kept busy all season, having served around 90 mares. His oldest progeny will soon be seen on racetracks around Australia (current two-year-olds).

The former outstanding racetrack performers Fly Like An Eagle, Guaranteed and Jilliby Kung Fu have all received good bookings as well with numbers between 40 and 60 mares each.

Just looking at Ultimate Machete's 2020 season and saw he served 59 in NZ so it is amazing to think that he has served over 100 in Australia in 2021 but his cheap fee would certainly have helped
