View Full Version : Should we be putting a line under Age Records that stood on Aug 31, 2020?

Obviously from this current season and beyond we are seeing 2yo's and 3yo's having an extra 4 months to lower the marks of those who have come before them

Should these records as of Aug 31, 2020 be recorded as the final marks for their age under the old system? (and under the new system until someone breaks them). Eventually they will be broken, with not only the advantage of time/breeding/sulky and track improvements BUT ALSO the advantage of another 4 months of maturity. So do you think we should be going back and ruling a line off on Aug 31 in the interest of being able to compare apples with apples?

Or don't you think anyone will care in time?

Yes, because I care.

Maybe just put an * next to records for this season that occurred in the extended part. I think you meant 2020 not 2000.

Yes, 2020 Rick (I got heading right) but it is a bigger problem than just this season, forever more horses will have an extra 4 months of racing at each age OR are foals to be born after January not September from now on

Breeding season stays the same. 2yo racing probably will start in January, it used to start in December if they had enough horses for a race. So it's closer to 3 months extra racing in future seasons. Until it changes again !
Race books and form guides don't even list the 2yo and 3yo track records anymore ! Just the track record for all ages.
