Assuming of course Lance does hold the lead, i think only ITMQ can outsprint him if he is right on Lances back 150m from home.
Lance will be trying to run 1:48 again so it is a mammoth task for all challengers.
ITMQ drawn 3 doesnt necessarily get the sit, Lisagain has first dibs on that suckalong spot, and who wouldnt want that! Does this leave ITMQ in the death or does a kiwi have a go at being tough guy there? Again assuming a 1:48 attempt is on the cards, and that is Lances only hope of winning i think, he doesnt want to go too slow (see NZ Cup) and get outsprinted by another slingshot.
Will b a great race, go Smoken, go sub 1:50...

Having watched all the lead up races, which runner except Smoken Up, would be capable of making this race a sub 1.50 run race.

My fearless selections:
1) Im Themightyquinn
2) Franco Jamar
3) Smoken Up
BTW, I have been known to be wrong with my selections in the past ........ maybe once or twice :p

Not sure too many will want to go to war with Lance up front early. The emergency Garnet River is possible the only runner in the field that COULD outpace Smoken Up off the arm but will more likely miss a run.
I am a fan of the 4yo from NZ, I think there is scope for improvement and he whacked away nice after being 3 wide for the first 600m and then death seating the rest..... All that said I am going
1) Smoken Up
2) Im Themightyquinn
3) Terror To Love
4) Franco Jamar
Good Luck To All...

Im not convinced Smoken Up is going up as well as he he was earlier this year. Mr Feelgood outsprinted him as did TTL.
I reckon he will get beat. ITMQ is the obvious one, but I also give good chances to TTL and FJ

I know Smokin Up has proved me wrong time and time and time again...but I am like you mightymo, not sure he's going as well, therefore my selections are (I must remind everyone that the last Miracle Mile winner I picked was Locarno, 1980)
Franco Jamar
Mr Feelgood
Smokin Up
Im Themightyquinn
Looking forward to it - good luck all.

The more I think of it the more it seems a swoopers race.
Lance will set some cracking sectionals. If ITMQ doesn't get a breather mid race he might pull his head off and be done.
That could mean FJ, TTL, or Mr Feelgood. Has Luke announced which one he's driving yet?
Super race coming up. Can't wait

I agree with mightymo with regards to Smoken Up. Not saying he cant win but I dont think he's racing at a 1:48 + capability at the moment. Any of the others can win except the one in the death seat.

I love it when Lance makes a big call and throws down the gauntlet. Should be more of it in my opinion. That's what racing's all about...my horse is faster than yours. Great stuff.

Cheers Sue and Harvey.
Luke's choice of drives is a good guide for punters, particularly after how well Mr Feelgood won on Saturday night. FJ must be flying.

It's a shame the weather had turned bad in Sydney over the last 24 hours with heavy rain. Showers are set to continue well into the weekend unfortunately.
I'd love to see an attempt to lower Smoken Up's mile record , but the bad weather might stifle that now :(

historically when Menangle gets quite a bit of rain, the inside can be a bit "off"
G-Mac
11-23-2011, 03:57 PM
29mm of rain fell in the area in the week leading up to the Len Smith Mile when smoken Up broke 1.50, including 16.8mm on the actual day itself (30/04/11)
The same weather station has copped 40mm in the last 24 hours but given the above; if the showers tend to ease coming into Saturday as predicted I think the track will play quite well. My main concern would be strong winds as the track is very exposed. However, winds of 20-25 km/h are predicted which isn't too bad.

Not only does he talk it up,he is quite prepared to go out and make it happen.Pity some others don't follow the example.

Why is IMTQ so suspect at the mile? Before the Celebrity Sprint 2 starts back he had not won at the mile in Australia (once in a NZ 3yo event) at 5 attempts. I'd have thought with his devastating sprint he'd just about be undefeated at the mile. Maybe he is a bit tougher than I am giving him credit for and isn't just a one trick pony? Any explanations?

very hard to win from behind at GP over a mile, and in most his races he comes from the back. Its only very recently that they have been putting him in the race earlier

That's what I originally thought; but then got told he'd lead a few times. Pays to check his record myself; he lead once and went too awful to be true and got vetted after the race.
I know Gary Hall has come out and said the Miracle Mile is the most unsuited race for him on the Grand Circuit; but I think it's his best!
1. IMTQ
2. Smoken Up
3. McCarthy - just don't know which one!

Now , now , Jamie , we want Fred to be alert by the time the MM starts. I don't know how a "few cleansing ales" would affect Fred , but speaking personally a "few" before the meeting starts would have me sleeping through the race ! :p

Haha, the ads sometimes look at your past browsing history (for example if you visit a website on another topic that's also running Google ads they might show you ads relating to a topic from that previous website). So if you're seeing those... :)
In all seriousness though, there's no connection whatsover with posting your personal info and the ads. I'd be more worried about getting calls from disgruntled forum members, but as VVV says it's probably not hard to track his number down anyway.

Jules, keeping the thread off-topic :-) , that is fine if you actually know that you have a private message waiting for you. I guarantee most users here open the forums read /post and leave. I don't think it is much of a priority for any posters to check if someone is sending them a private message.
I come to the forums a couple of times a day and never give a second thought to see if I have a private message waiting. I don't think a lot of users even know that option exists. I was playing around with some of the options recently and by sheer chance stumbled upon a private message that had been sent 10 days previously.

Good lord that's a lot of off topic posts in 20 minutes. Here we go...
Really? When I log-on and have a PM waiting I have a pop up that I have to click Ok or Cancel on before I can access the forums. The interwebz forever confusing.
Correct, this should happen by default, if it's not the likely culprit is your browser, and it's probably an older version of Internet Explorer. For this and hundreds of other reasons, if anybody is using Internet Explorer they should switch to Google Chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome). After downloading and installing, instead of clicking that blue "e" to get on the interwebz, you click the chrome icon. That way sites will load a whole lot faster, your browser will start in 1 second instead of 5, and fancy pop up messages and such will work as they are supposed to.
[VVV] I gave up using it when I got an unsolicited photo of Mightymo playing Tennis whilst wearing nothing but a Prince EX03.
That wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't seen that tennis photo in Mr. Howe's publication :(

If you're not getting pop ups and it's not a browser issue, have a look at your settings. Click "Forum Actions" up the top and click general settings. You can set to be emailed when you get a PM, and select pop up options etc. You can also set your thread subscription options, and then for example when you click "quick links" and then "subscribed threads" you can see all threads you have posted in and whether they have new posts. Also, pop ups or no, you can still access your PM's from the top right of the forum under notifications.
