Thats an odd statement from somebody who said they have not had a bet on harness racing since the shit hit the fan?

Alas Ringman is a mere shadow of his former self. Having trouble remembering who he is and what day it is these days. In recent times rambles on unintelligibly.

There'll be late gear change announcements -snorkel and flippers added- going on all day today. It has been belting down all night here. There's an old bloke over the road in the park with all sorts of animals lined up 2 by 2 and he's building an Ark.

Bugger! Well where I am there is 150k winds and last night Sir Elton John swung into town to sing a few numbers and hightailed it out of here deciding that the town wasn't big enough for him and headed to Sydney. With the way the wind was it would taken him about 20 minutes to get there.

[VVV] G'day Greg,
I left Sydney and we drove out to Dubbo early on Monday morning. It was fine all the way to Orange then it kind of clouded over a bit and by the time we got to Dubbo it was puffed up and ready to go. The rain started just as we were leaving which was around 1pm & it rained like buggery all the way East from Dubbo through Meriwa & onwards through to Scone, basically the further East we went the heavier it got. It belted down in Scone and when I left there about 7 it was rolling and kept going all the way to Sydney.
The track at Menangle must be some piece of work because the amount of rain that has fallen in the past week would have damned near wrecked most racing surfaces. That they will be racing tonight is in itself a miracle. If the rain holds off from now until post time I am picking the track will be lightning fast because the rain washes all the finer material downward. The same sort of thing used to happen at Mowbray in Tassie after prolonged heavy rainfall. I'm packing a jacket and a brolly just in case.

Hi David
I think last wk's run took it's toll on TTL which is a shame, but i do think he will be better for mixing with the big boy's and with some nice 4yr old racing comming up in the new year he will be one to watch.

I've always said he is an exciting horse. But he hasn't proven himself to be a top class miler. More than happy for the connections if he turns out to be a superstar sprinter. I just want the best PROVEN milers in the most prestigious mile race in Australasia. It's not an "up and comers" event in my opinion.

Rc1 Jacka Clive Lost all chance at the start. I thought The Smiler was bloody disapointing in this.
Rc2 Liston Nope
Rc3 Tiny Module At 100/1 and still hasnt seen daylight. Third beaten 3m despite not getting a clear run. To say I'm gutted is an understatement.
Rc4 Ayu Gypsy 2nd
Rc5 Mabrook 2nd
Rc6 Hesa Buzzin Knew the favourite was a false favourite but tipped the wrong one to beat him. Washakie a great run.
Rc7 Sundons Gift Not going as good but nice win by the winner.
Rc8 Im Themightyquinn 3rd
Rc9 Scandalman Beaten :o

Btw, BIG-TIME props to The Big Mile who was standing there large as life on-course with his I-pad & phone in hand & betting the house down across corporates, Betfair, various Totes & the Bookies. The future of on-course punting, no risk whatsoever. The Number 1 Club supplies their Punters with I-pads at the TB's I'm told. Something to give some serious consideration to for Menangle.

Not a miler 2 x top runs in he Mile not too bad for a horse that's not a miler did you not see his run's in the sunshine sprint etc you have to be tough to run a great mile not a speedy squib he got beat 2.3 mts going 50.8 won the sunshine sprint, cordina sprint, heat of the Inter's look up his form for the journey then tell me he isn't a good miler

Yeah absolutely blitzed Mick Hardy at the Eugowra Mile. :p
I'm not saying he is a bad miler. He obviously isnt.
But that poster tried to have a crack at TTL by I guess saying he is a 2 miler only because of his NZ Cup and now Miracle Mile failure. When distance really doesn't mean too much in harness racing. Remember TTL beat home Mick last week and started shorter price than him last night....

Woosh! You've missed the point entirely. What I'm saying is that horses can prove they will make high class milers by performing well in fast run, high quality, longer distance races. for example Karloo Mick. TTL hasn't done that yet NOR performed well in high quality mile events. That was my issue with his invite.

This is why I would say ITMQ has proven his ability mile wise by his other performances. Performances that are vastly superior to TTL. For the reason his existing mile performance don't back that up please see this informative post. http://www.harnessracingforum.com/showthread.php?1739-Miracle-Mile-Barrier-Draw&p=13133&viewfull=1#post13133

Oh! And as far as Karloo Mick not being proven in the highest class mile race possible? Enjoy reading some of the other horse names in this little known event and the mile rate.

Terror To Love beat home Karloo Mick in the Cordina - a vital lead up race. On that performance 7 days prior to the Miracle Mile there is no way he should have been in the field. .
Hey Sokyola and Westburn Grant are also proven great horses at the Mile; why weren't they in the field?
It's rare a winner of the NZ Cup does not get an invite. But I don't think a horse who's finished second last in the Cordina has ever got an invite and I doubt many thirds have from the Newcaslte Mile.

I prefer proven horses not horses who happen to finish ahead in lower class races. We'll have to agree to disagree on that. I'm just glad Karloo Mick provided the excitement that TTL was utterly incapable of providing.

Its 91m metres difference.
What do you mean 'I know who got blitzed' :s. Sounds like sour grapes to me.
Thats a bit pedantic especially considering we are discussing the miracle mile which for so long was ran over 1760m. Good thing you mentioned that next start he won (BP Hancock Cup) I went and had a look. Of his last 9 races he has had 5 over the mile (or mile and 91m to please you) and 4 over the middle distance. His record? 4 wins at middle distance and 0 wins at the mile.
So while he is still great at the mile my original point being he is more a longer distance horse...

Any distance if i owned him it would just be a pleasure to have a horse that don't leave anything on the track, his best dist is probably 2000-2400 perhap's not sure he is just so competitive at them all.
