The iwnner of the Popular Alm gets entry to the Vic Cup so it stands to reason it will have a stronger field than the Treuer.

Not really an excuse. Melpark Major and Bitobliss would start regardless and IMTQ will definitely be in the Vic Cup. In fact all three will be. Apart from those three (well one really but the other 2 are probably grand circuit horses) its just an average Victorian FFA - nothing special because there is a Vic Cup bonus; like the Treuer is an average NSW FFA with Washakie. Except the Treuer should be better because its grand circuit.

That was my first thought but wouldn't ITMQ be assured of entry anyway. And probably Bitofbliss and Melpark Major. Not quite sure what the conditions of entry are.
