How do you like this Vic heat for the 4yo mares at Ballarat tomorrow night
How many qualify for the final?
I looked in the APG conditions but could not find any details for the 4yo's
I am sure Anne knows
(Ladies once again does not have the best of luck with barriers)

I think first 5 and maybe the next fastest as emerg. There are only 2 heats, one in VIC and one in NSW. Final is at Menangle. You are right about LIR’s second row draw again. It’s not too bad and she only has to qualify. She trialled at Geelong last week off the front , began well ,led and took a sit. It was a front row reminder for her just in case : alas it was not to be !

There was APG heats in Qld and WA. I doubt the WA winner will come across. The rules have the first 3 in each of the Sydney, Qld and Vic heats to make final and then the home state 4th, which is NSW. Makes it tough for some quality horses in tonights heat at Ballarat and explains why Mick Stanley went to Sydney with his Filly and Colt. The 50k consolation for fillies won't have enough to make a field, so it will be me a mixed consolation with the colts/geldings, with fillies given Pref draw and a bonus 15k for the first filly home if not the winner, and 15k to first colt home if not the winner.

Thanks Dannie. Do you know whether the winners of the WA heats are eligible for their states Consolations, if they choose to not come across for the National finals. Consolation after all implies 'after a loss"

I have found the answer and the link
chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://apgold.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Series-30-Race-Series-Terms-Conditions-Amended-2021-05-06.pdf
It would seem that only the home state (NSW) qualifiers for the finals are obliged to either race in the final or to withdraw completely from the series - so other state winners seem to be allowed to stay home and contest their state consolation
As Dannie said - Only 3 of tonight's cracker Ballarat heat are going to make it according to the conditons above
(The final's emergency will be from NSW)

The best 3 mares made it through
How awesome is Ladies - $1.25 in that field says it all

How good is Kabbalah Karen B ; a Broodmare Gem! Three fillies Perfect In Pink ( 2 yr old ) , Our Little Jet ( 3 yr old) and Ladies In Red ( 4 yr old) all have won in the past 2 weeks . All by different Sires . Her current foal is a Poster Boy filly and in foal to Captaintreacherous.

Menangle and Albion Park Finals tomorrow night
All 4 finals at AP have very short favourites
and the same for the 2yo's at Menangle but the 3yo's are seen as 2 horse wars

In the 3yo Fillies at Albion Park Delightful Lou, stablemate of the winner and fav (and NOT by Sweet Lou) missed the start by some distance and may have been unlucky not to replicate the deeds of dam - Louvre, who won an APG 3yo final

Watching it again, I have to say that Black Onyx, death seating, was one hell of a run and although he had a cheap trip, Don Lou did not have a lot of luck in the home straight

Jewel Melody was totally dominant in the NSW 2yo Fillies but it was some effort by Most Triumphant to get going again and run 3rd

The Final this Saturday:

Somebody will have to explain to me how the Emergency is the horse who finished last in the NSW heat

Because everyone else wanted to run in 50k consolation where you earn more money finishing 3rd than 6th in the final

Thanks Dannie, I remember now that the conditions stated you had to declare your interest in contesting the final (other than the NSW horses who were expected to)

2yo heats at Melton tonight
Only 7 in the C&G
9 in the Fillies
Roryville is another Huntsville first starter in the C&G. He, or should I say his dam, is unique in that he is the only horse in Aus with the dam sire World Of Rocknroll (not necessarily a credential that you want). The dam was imported in foal to him

No apparent champions in the Ballarat races although it is bloody freezing there - the apparent temp was 4.5° at 7pm
Jason Lee made the mistake of letting the stablemate off his back when with no sprint lane he could have kept her locked up - a big mistake if he is the J. Lee in the ownership
Huntsville progeny did quinella the colts. I wonder whether there is a chance he may become available again in Aus

Really looking forward to the 4yo mares APG final at Menangle tonight although I prefer a distance closer to 2000m. I think Ladies is a class above them.
With the Stewart trio only having had one run back from a lengthy spell it may give the others a slight chance but I think the mile distance probably balances that out and it may prove a definitive race.
Ladies best ever time was at only her 3rd start as a 2yo (1.51.9 Melton). It will be interesting to see what time they run but it may become a tactical affair

You wouldn't think 1x2 is too far back on a track with a home straight of 350m but how can you make ground when the last quarter is 26 flat
Ladies was probably the equivalent of the 1x1 at the 400 and 3wide But how do you run down 26

Pumped for these 2yo Gp1s at Melton on Saturday night. The honour is up there with breaking 1.56 at Menangle i.e very deceptive.

Are you saying they are ordinary Brendan. To me the fact that the finals are just a repeat of the single heats is a fizzer
I am however looking forward to seeing Catch A wave and Just Hope win the 3yo's

Yes. Be hard pressed to find 4 weaker 'Gp1s'

I think for the 2yo's, R1 at Kilmore tonight and R4 at Geelong tomorrow night might prove greater indicators of future talent

The 2yo Colts Gp1 Trotters was an example of why you need a couple of heats worth of entrants - so that the weakies do not make the final

As we have suggested in the breeding forum before, it is a pity that we only had one season from Huntsville out here. Also great to see a juvenile driven for a sprint, there are not many that are not obsessed with leading.

Catch A Wave is brilliant but still a work it progress. Could District Attorney ever challenge him?
I don't really think so but ???
