We have the 3yo's at Kilmore tomorrow night and with 4 heats of each sex, only 6 from each will go on to the Semis
On Friday we have the 4yo's at Melton and like the 2yo heats from Tuesday, in the mares only a couple need to be eliminated before the Semi's while the C&G are bigger fields and a few more need to go

Like most, I am not a fan of Odds On but I can see why Act Now has come in from $1.28 to $1.22 in R8 tonight

The Vicbred 4yo C&Gs final should be a beauty but if the Moth draws to lead, it is hard to see him losing. That of course requires him to draw better than Act Now. Did Act Now 'run his race' before the race tonight or has he come to the end of his run - he is certainly entitled to a spell

So is Amore Vita back? It was a tough last 700m but she is a different horse as she did not show the zip that made her exciting. If it comes down to toughness she is not going to beat Encipher IMO

The fields have been posted for Saturday night

How good should the 3yo C&G be. The best 5 horses have drawn 1-5
I know Catch A Wave is special but he is not bombproof
I would have liked Heza Son Of Agun to have drawn inside him but he is still a chance

Joyful is $1.20 in the 2yoF and I have followed her since her first start (for Brent Lilley) and that was 7 months ago - so she has been up for 8 months but she has had 6 weeks between runs in September and again in November
I wish I had caught the $71 openers for Aureus with the Candyman on

$25k Silver Paces and $12k Bronzes at Bendigo tonight

I have done no form but one trainer that caught my attention is Jeremy Seal
A South Aussie who has a 50% strike rate this season having won 11 of 22
He has starters in R1 and R3 and neither have drawn particularly well - 7 & 6 but both are to be driven by Nathan Jack
Both Shazzam and Atreacherous are 4yo mares, the first in a Bronze the second in a Silver

3yo colt Eyethink returns to racing for Aaron Dunn in the Bronze pace
He has not started for nearly 20 months but in his two 2yo starts he looked like he might be something special
Obviously something went amiss and it will be interesting to see how he goes in R2

Nosweetsforyou was some run after blowing the start Big Time
She was backed heavily and you would have to think she would have won the Silver 2yo fillies if not for giving them a massive start
Matriart also made a mistake mid race, lost plenty of ground and was then climbing over their backs at the end. Another "what might have been"
Overall you would have to say that The Huntress had a bit of luck even if she did do it from the death

R1 Rockinwithattitude will lead all the way but is $1.30.
Jayden Barker has driven it every other start for 13-8-2-1 so I am worried about the boss taking the reins off him - karma
Princess Jamilla is $1.95 the place and could land behind her but there is probably only one place spot up for grabs as you would think Mark Pitt should fill one with Tradie Lady ($1.30) and there are several others who could place such as Salski ($3.60) while I see somebody just knocked off the $10 the place for Valerie Lane

In R2 I am going for Hide and Seek as I think the draw, the driver and the prep with only this in mind gives him an edge over the other two on the 2nd line
How did David Jack lose this horse to the Tubbs/Sugars stable who only got it for that last heat win?

Pretty sure the horse was sold after winning its bonus, i seen it advertised but can’t remember how much. Thinking it was in the 20-30k range. Going by the new owner im guessing it’s off to Qld after this.

R3 Courmayeur has drawn 1 to lead and has looked fantastic in the lead up BUT she is just too short at $1.35
She has never started this short before, much less in a Gp1
She has had 3 previous Gp1's and been unplaced in all of them
Her strongest opposition are her stablemates that have drawn poorly
It sounds like I am potting her but although I think she will win, I cannot entertain her price

R4 The draw has made it an interesting viewing race but not a punting race IMO as I just cannot see how you can bet against The Lost Storm because of his class but $1.40 from barrier 12 - no thanks
Could Another Nien get a place at $10 - can he hold the lead until The Storm comes without copping too much pressure?

I want The Lost Storm to win as he is a champion 2yo and for him to have < $80k in the bank does not seem right

R5 and the draw has made this one interesting too
There has been considerable money for Dougs Babe ($2.40) to beat Tough Tilly ($1.75) but i don't find the odds for either attractive (I should have mentioned much earlier that I am not really a big punter)
If Ladies In Red was in the race in Tough Tilly's draw, she would be $1.30 or less
If I was to have an interest I would take Tay Tay if she gets out to $10. If she had Sugars or Butt on her, I would take the current $9

R6 is too hard for someone who is not a trotting gait devotee (I don't watch enough of them and cannot be bothered doing the form)

R7 is likely to be the race of the night. I think Major Moth has had the perfect prep for it but Better Eclipse appears to be in peak form despite already contesting the Inter.
There are several leading possibilities but I am thinking Act Now could come around and give the Moth a lovely trail if he doesn't already have it on Eclipse's back. Mind you La Captain could come around if Eclipse gets stuck in Death early
Too tricky for me

R8 I think I heard Kate Gath say last night that Catch A Wave is the fastest beginner she has driven
If he leads probably wins but although a likely future champion he can be a bit quirky
He has blown from $1.35 to $1.80 with a few runners shortening a little but the biggest mover has been Roarforroscoe coming in from $34 to $10
If Catch A Wave got to Evens it would be tempting while if Heza Son Of Agun approaching $10 would be a good interest

With the stablemate scratched in R9 Joyful is unbackable at $1.06
You cannot get $71 about Aureus anymore but I would be more comfortable having $20 on her than $5,000 on Joyful for the same return

I am going to stick my neck out here as it is not fair to bring it up after the race
They are talking about Captain Bellasario being a chance
And I know some of these are possibly looking for the spelling paddock
When I go to the gallops and don't know much about them, I look at how much prizemoney the horses have won
Captain Bellasario is up against horses who have won heaps more, have won Inter heats etc
The commentators are out of my league but I cannot help but think Captn B may slightly out of his league

I should have added that I am a fan of the Captain, anybody that saw his first 2 runs the campaign before this just had to be - he set a Tk Rec leading then he came from back in the field in fast time at Melton

As suggested Catch A Wave is a fantastic beginner and to withstand that bell lap challenge and win comfortably was very impressive. I think Matt Craven had a brain fade and should probably use brother Glen or Jason Lee more (cousin?)

Point of difference is we're the sport for everyone not the sport of kings. Never going to compete if trying to compete based on how upmarket we are. This fellow is paying bills and bringing money into the industry, someone in Toorak might be more classy but they're not going to Melton. The sport needs characters, and the thing with characters is they dont always do things the politically correct way.

You can say we are the people's code and the clubs are run by people, by members, who make the rules. Dress codes are everywhere nowadays (including the trots) so even a rich bill payer can rarely escape them - quite often when just going out. So if the club want him to cover that up as it is going out on media, he should not be surprised. It is a matter of standards which people/members will have the final say on

Are you going to let him accept the trophy with absolutely any T-shirt Brendan?

For somebody to where that shirt with high confidence they would be photographed accepting the winner's trophy is detrimental to the image of the sport. That HRV occasionally has to remind participants about their standard of dress at our premier track demonstrates the lack of class and respect by some. Next time, perhaps, the owner might choose something more classy to reflect their status in the sport. May I suggest a silk shirt. Wire a pig's head mask.
